About us:
EHM Technology is a Faisalabad-based company providing construction cost estimating and engineering services to international clients. We prepare quantity takeoffs, priced estimates and bid proposals for contractors, subcontractors and owners in the USA, Canada, the UK and Australia.
Role summary
The QA Engineer (Civil, Architectural and Structural) independently reviews every sitework, concrete, structural and architectural estimate before it is released to the client. You check quantities, scope coverage and pricing against the bid documents, record your findings, and confirm that corrections are made.
This is an internal role. You work with the estimators and the Proposal Manager and do not deal with clients directly. You do not prepare the estimate yourself, so your review stays independent of the takeoff.
Key responsibilities
Quantity verification
- Review takeoffs against civil, structural and architectural drawings, schedules, details, specifications and addenda.
- Re-measure high-value items in full and spot-check the rest: earthwork cut and fill, site utilities, paving, concrete volumes, formwork, reinforcing steel, structural steel, masonry, framing, roofing, openings and finishes.
- Confirm drawing scale, units of measure, waste and lap allowances, and conversions such as rebar weight and steel tonnage.
- Cross-check finish, door, window and hardware quantities against the room and opening schedules.
Scope coverage
- Confirm that all work in CSI Divisions 02 to 14 and 31 to 33 shown in the bid documents is carried once and in the right place.
- Check that addenda, client clarifications and RFI responses are reflected in the estimate.
- Flag conflicts between drawings and specifications, and items missing from the scope, to the Proposal Manager.
Pricing checks
- Check crew compositions, productivity rates and man-hours against recognized cost data such as RSMeans and company historical data.
- Check material prices against current supplier quotes, and equipment hours and charge rates against the planned method of work.
- Verify wage basis, markups, formulas and totals in the estimate workbook.
Review log and sign-off
- Record review comments in a clear log, return them to the estimator, and verify each correction.
- Sign off the estimate as reviewed before it goes to the Proposal Manager for release.
- Complete reviews within the time allowed by the bid schedule.
Standards and improvement
- Maintain civil, architectural and structural review checklists and update them as new error patterns appear.
- Share recurring findings with the team and support training of junior estimators.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a renowned, PEC-accredited Pakistani university such as UET Lahore, NUST, NED, GIKI or UET Taxila.
- 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience estimating civil, structural and architectural scope on US construction projects.
- Ability to read US civil, structural and architectural drawings, schedules, details and specifications in imperial units.
- Sound knowledge of crew-based pricing, material pricing, equipment rates and the structure of a priced estimate.
- Familiarity with the US standards that drive quantities, such as ACI for concrete, CRSI for reinforcing and AISC for structural steel.
- Proficiency in takeoff software (Bluebeam Revu, PlanSwift or On-Screen Takeoff) and advanced Microsoft Excel, including formula auditing.
- Strong attention to detail and the confidence to raise findings with senior colleagues in a constructive way.
- Clear written English for review comments and logs.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience across sitework, structure and architectural finishes rather than one area only.
- Experience with earthwork takeoff software such as AGTEK or InSite.
- Previous experience in a checking, peer review or quality role.
- Exposure to public bid work with prevailing wage requirements.
What We Offer
- · Competitive salary package
- · Paid leave benefits
- · Exposure to diverse US and Canadian projects
- · Professional growth opportunities
- · Collaborative work environment
- · Weekends off
