What they need
About Netop Netop builds secure remote access solutions trusted by organizations in retail, finance, healthcare, industrial operations, and critical infrastructure. With a security-first architecture and strong alignment to Zero Trust principles , our systems run across cloud and on-prem environments and must meet high standards of reliability, compliance, and operational safety.
We operate a modern cloud SaaS platform (Netop Portal) and a mature on-premise product line (Netop Remote Control), running on Windows, Linux, and macOS — often within environments that cannot go offline. Quality, stability, and automation are core to everything we do.
Job Information
- Team: QA — supporting Portal & On-Prem Engineering
- Level: L3 – Owning (full L3, expected to hit the ground running)
- Reports to: QA Lead
- Location: Bucharest, Romania / Remote
- Type: Full-time
Your Role We’re hiring a QA Engineer (L3) to ensure the quality and reliability of our software across both product lines — the Portal (cloud SaaS) and On-Prem (cross-platform desktop) suite. You’ll design, execute, and automate test cases, working closely with developers, the QA Lead, and product managers to drive quality across Windows, Linux, and macOS environments, as well as web-based flows.
This is a full L3 position — we expect you to hit the ground running, owning test areas and automation coverage from day one and taking on increasingly complex subsystems and quality ownership as you ramp. You’ll operate as a fully autonomous L3 contributor from early on.
We don’t use “years of experience” as a proxy for skill — we evaluate based on your QA fundamentals, your automation mindset, your ability to reason methodically about complex multi-platform systems, and your readiness to own quality outcomes.
Soft Skills
- Strong ownership mindset; able to design and improve testing approaches, not just execute test cases
- Ability to understand product and technical specifications and translate them into effective test strategies
- Enjoy solving technical problems and comparing solutions against real requirements
- Methodical, detail-oriented, and disciplined about reproducibility
- Self-driven, capable of managing tasks independently and following through on commitments
- Clear written and verbal communication; collaborative mindset across Engineering, QA, and Product
- Desire to continuously improve processes, tooling, and engineering discipline
Required Hard Skills
QA automation is a core requirement — proven ability to write, maintain, and scale automated test suites
Solid scripting or programming ability (Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar)
Hands-on experience with automation frameworks across both web and desktop applications
Web: Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar
Desktop: native app testing on Windows and/or Linux (macOS a plus)
Experience testing multi-platform software (Windows, Linux, macOS)
Strong understanding of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes
Experience designing, executing, and maintaining functional, regression, and exploratory tests
Ability to analyze logs, configurations, and system behavior to identify and reproduce root causes
Comfortable collaborating with developers throughout feature design, implementation, and release
Nice to Have
- Experience with CI/CD test integration and running automated tests in pipelines
- Experience testing C++ or native desktop applications (cross-platform)
- Familiarity with both SaaS and on-premise product testing
- Knowledge of performance, load, or security testing
- Familiarity with test management tools (e.g., TestRail, Zephyr)
- Experience building internal QA tools, test harnesses, simulators, or mocks
- Understanding of network protocols, client-server architectures, or remote desktop technologies
- Experience contributing to QA process improvement
Responsibilities Core Delivery (Day 1)
- Design, execute, and maintain test cases for functional, regression, and exploratory testing across Portal (web) and On-Prem (desktop)
- Build and maintain automated test suites for both web and desktop applications across Windows, Linux, and macOS
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to catch regressions early
- Document and maintain clear, repeatable test plans and test case repositories
- Identify, reproduce, and report issues clearly and accurately, partnering with developers to resolve them
- Collaborate with developers and the QA Lead to define acceptance criteria and ensure high product quality
- Participate in sprint activities, test planning, release readiness checks, and quality feedback
Growing Ownership (First 6 Months)
- Take increasing ownership of automation coverage across critical Portal and On-Prem flows
- Expand and harden automated regression suites, reducing manual effort and defect leakage
- Contribute internal tooling, test harnesses, simulators, or mocks to increase coverage and efficiency
- Help establish and refine QA processes, workflows, and standards alongside the QA Lead
- Drive measurable improvements to release confidence and quality metrics in your owned areas
- Begin mentoring newer QA engineers or interns as opportunities arise
Schedule & Location
- Remote-friendly with a flexible schedule
- Occasional on-site collaboration in Bucharest depending on team needs
Why Join Us
- Work on both SaaS and on-premise systems used in mission-critical, high-security environments
- Real, measurable impact where QA and automation innovation directly improve reliability
- Exposure to modern tooling across web and native desktop testing
- Small, skilled engineering teams with strong technical culture and end-to-end ownership
- A company that values standards, clean processes, and continuous improvement
- Freedom to propose, design, and own meaningful changes
- Competitive compensation and ongoing learning support
What Success Looks Like After 30 Days
- Ramped quickly and already productive: writing and running automated tests across Portal and On-Prem
- Navigating both web (Portal) and desktop (On-Prem) testing environments confidently
- Independently triaging, reproducing, and reporting defects with clear root-cause analysis
- Plugged into sprint rhythms and contributing to release-quality discussions from the start
After 3 Months
- Contributing to automation coverage for key Portal and On-Prem flows end-to-end
- Expanding and hardening regression suites with measurable reductions in defect leakage
- Test automation reliably integrated into CI/CD, catching regressions before release
- Recognized as a dependable quality owner for specific testing domains across both product lines
- Actively improving QA standards, tooling, and processes alongside the QA Lead
After 6 Months
- Acting as a go-to quality authority across both product lines
- Leading automation strategy and coverage expansion in your owned areas
- Mentoring newer QA engineers and raising team-wide testing standards
- Consistently improving release confidence and quality metrics with demonstrable impact
