QA Engineer

About Us Monri Payments, a leading fintech company, provides innovative payment solutions, empowering businesses with secure and efficient payment processing. We're looking for a detail-oriented QA Engineer with 2+ years of manual testing experience to join our team. You'll play a key role in ensuring the quality of our Payment Gateway through thorough manual and automated testing.

Last year our production systems handled 130 million card transactions in Croatia, which is every fifth non-cash transaction. This year we plan to grow further, expand into new markets and deliver innovative alternative payment methods based on QR codes, cryptocurrencies and mobile wallets.

We operate in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia and Romania, as well as in several countries outside the region. Our recent PCI P2PE certification, the highest security standard in card payments, strengthens our position for a global breakthrough. In the coming period we will focus on developing all our brands (Remaris, Smart, Thor, Start, WebPay and WSPay) and on a significant step forward in the international market.

What You'll Do

• Test Planning: Develop and execute test plans, test cases and test scripts to ensure the highest quality of our Payment Gateway.
• Manual Testing: Take ownership of manual testing for new features and regression testing for existing ones. The Payment Gateway is a complex, high-volume system. You'll work with the full transaction lifecycle (authorization, purchase, capture, refund, void, recurring payments), 3D Secure authentication flows, tokenized cards and integrations with many acquirers and card schemes.
• Payment Flow & Integration Testing: Verify hosted payment pages, merchant API integrations, mobile wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay) and alternative payment methods. Validate API requests and responses, error handling, webhook and notification delivery, and behavior when an acquirer is slow, unavailable or declines a transaction.
• Back-Office Testing: Test the merchant and admin portals where accuracy matters: transaction search and reporting, multi-currency amounts and rounding, partial captures and refunds, validation rules, and business logic that spans multiple screens. You catch what others walk past.
• Context Switching: The gateway covers a wide range of functional areas, from card processing and 3DS to merchant configuration, risk rules, recurring subscriptions and reporting. You can shift between these areas without losing focus or accuracy.
• Collaboration: Work closely with developers, product managers and other stakeholders to clarify requirements before development begins and to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
• Documentation: Maintain clear, comprehensive test documentation and reports: test cases others can follow, and bug reports that are reproducible and actionable without follow-up questions.
• Automation (Basic, Non-Mandatory): Familiarity with automated testing tools such as Cypress is a plus but not a requirement. We value your manual testing expertise first.

Location The position is in Rijeka, Croatia, with a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on experience in manual testing.
• Proven experience as a QA Engineer or in a similar role.
• Solid hands-on experience testing web applications with complex workflows, integrations and numerical logic.
• Basic API testing experience (Postman or similar), including reading JSON/XML requests and responses.
• Demonstrated ability to context-switch across multiple functional areas or workstreams without losing focus or accuracy.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an instinct for testing beyond the written specification.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to write clear bug reports and test cases and to work collaboratively in a team.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience testing payment gateways, e-commerce checkouts or other payment processing systems.
• Understanding of card payment concepts (3D Secure, tokenization, authorization vs. capture, chargebacks, card schemes).
• Basic familiarity with automated testing tools such as Cypress.
• Experience with performance testing tools such as k6 or Apache JMeter.
• Basic SQL for verifying data in the database.
• Familiarity with security and compliance standards in payments (e.g. PCI DSS).
