What they need
Company Description PLABS is a technology innovation company established in 2019, with offices in Indonesia, and Japan. The company focuses on AI consulting, AI and system development, and AI business intelligence for clients in global markets. PLABS partners with organizations to leverage advanced technologies that drive efficiency, insight, and competitive advantage. Team members collaborate across regions and disciplines to deliver scalable, high-impact solutions.
Role Description We're looking for a Medior QA Engineer to own quality across our active project portfolio. This is not a role where you execute test cases someone else wrote — you'll design the test approach, build the artifacts, run UAT with clients, and hold the release gate. You'll work across web applications, mobile apps, API layers, and hardware-integrated systems (RFID, scanners). You'll also get exposure to AI-powered products, where testing non-deterministic behaviour is its own discipline.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and carry out QA for 2–3 concurrent client projects, providing QA sign-off before each release.
- Review requirements with developers and project managers, clarify acceptance criteria, and define the test scope.
- Create and maintain test plans, test cases, and regression suites for each product.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing across web applications, mobile applications, and APIs.
- Report and track defects in Lark Base, including reproduction steps, expected and actual results, severity, and priority.
- Verify fixes before closing defects.
- Prepare test scenarios, facilitate client user acceptance testing (UAT), and document issues raised during testing.
- Prepare release readiness reports covering test results, outstanding defects, and release risks.
- Track defects found after release, defect density by module, and recurring causes. Work with developers to improve testability and checks before QA.
- Gradually add and maintain automated regression tests using Playwright for products under long-term maintenance.
Must-have Specification:
- 3–5 years of experience as a QA Engineer or QA Analyst, preferably in an agency, consultancy, or software house handling multiple client projects.
- Experience testing at least one application through production release and post-launch maintenance.
- Able to define a project test strategy and prepare test plans, test cases, requirement traceability matrices, and test summary reports. Test cases should include preconditions, steps, and expected results.
- Experience with manual functional testing of web and mobile applications, including Android and iOS.
- Experience testing REST APIs using Postman or similar tools, including JSON responses, HTTP status codes, and JWT/OAuth authentication flows.
- Able to test APIs independently of the UI.
- Basic SQL skills for checking application data directly in a database.
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle and QA work within Agile or iterative delivery.
- Familiarity with browser developer tools, network requests, application logs, and Git, including pulling branches and checking builds.
- Able to write reproducible bug reports, maintain testing documentation, and explain release risks to developers, project managers, and clients using test evidence.
- Able to identify gaps in requirements, clarify them with the project team, and proceed with testing based on agreed assumptions.
- Native proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia and good written English. Spoken English is preferred.
Nice-to-have Specification:
- Experience writing and maintaining Playwright regression tests within an existing automation framework.
- Experience integrating tests into GitLab CI pipelines and familiarity with SonarQube.
- Basic performance or load testing experience using k6 or JMeter, and awareness of common security risks such as the OWASP Top 10.
- Experience testing applications connected to RFID readers, scanners, or other hardware devices.
- Experience testing AI or LLM features, including prompt regression, output evaluation, and checks for incorrect or unsupported responses.
- Experience facilitating UAT with enterprise or government clients.
- ISTQB Foundation certification.
