QA Officer

Take ownership of day-to-day quality assurance in a growing New Zealand food business.

Source & Supply Food Co is a New Zealand owned manufacturer of great tasting ham, bacon and smallgoods, supplying retailers and foodservice businesses across the country.

We’re expanding our quality team and looking for a proactive QA Officer to help keep our food safety and quality systems running effectively. With new products on the horizon, it’s an exciting time to join the business and contribute to our next stage of growth.

Reporting to the QA Manager and working alongside our Quality Controller, you’ll take responsibility for a broad range of daily QA activities. You’ll also have access to an experienced external QA specialist for technical advice and support.

This role suits someone who enjoys being involved in the factory, understands the importance of accurate records and follows issues through to resolution. You’ll have room to use your experience, suggest improvements and take ownership of your work.

What you’ll be doing

• Review production and food safety records, identify gaps and follow up with the relevant teams.
• Maintain controlled documents, procedures and quality records so they are accurate, current and easy to use.
• Investigate non-conformances and customer complaints, working with the QA Manager and Operations to identify causes and complete corrective actions.
• Support internal and external audits, including preparing evidence and following up audit findings.
• Coordinate sampling and testing activities, review results and escalate issues requiring attention.
• Support traceability checks, mock recalls and verification activities.
• Help deliver food safety and quality training, reinforcing good practices across the factory.
• Support the QA Manager with export preparation and customer requirements.
• Identify practical ways to improve our quality systems and day-to-day processes.

What you’ll bring

• Previous quality assurance experience in food manufacturing.
• A working understanding of HACCP and food safety systems; experience with an RMP would be an advantage.
• Confidence managing routine QA tasks independently, with sound judgement about when to seek support.
• Strong attention to detail, good organisational skills and consistent follow-through.
• The ability to work constructively with production teams, explain requirements clearly and raise concerns when needed.
• A practical, hands-on approach and an interest in improving how things are done.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office and maintaining electronic records.

A relevant qualification in food science, food technology or a related discipline would be helpful. Meat processing and export experience would also be an advantage.
