QA Section Head

Company Overview

We are a premier high-tech equipment manufacturer specializing in precision engineering and High Level Assembly (HLA) for the semiconductor, medical device, and industrial automation sectors.

• Location: Bayan Lepas, Penang, Malaysia

Job Scope:

• Team & KPI Leadership: Drive section-level Quality KPIs (FPY, Scrap Cost, Escape Rates). Manage multi-shift manpower scheduling to prevent inspection bottlenecks.
• MRB & Crisis Management: Chair the Material Review Board (MRB). Serve as the core escalation interface for customer claims and systemic supplier defects.
• HLA Quality Engineering: Manage Quality Gates across the entire high-level assembly flow. Lead system-level Tolerance Stack-Up analysis and control special processes (torque networks, cleanroom protocols, pressure loops).
• NPI & Risk Prevention: Govern NPI quality gates, sign off on FAI deliverables, and lead cross-functional DFMEA / PFMEA reviews to mitigate CNC tool wear and electrical interference.
• CAPA & Poka-Yoke: Approve internal/external 8D reports using data-driven root cause tools (5-Why, DOE). Champion engineering-level mistake-proofing on the floor.
• SPC & System Compliance: Supervise plant-wide SPC matrices (Cp/Cpk monitoring for CNC tolerances and electrical test yields). Maintain QMS compliance in accordance with ISO 9001.

Job Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Manufacturing Engineering.

• Experience: 5–8 years in manufacturing quality, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory role handling CNC, Sheet Metal, or Electro-mechanical Box Builds / HLA.

• Technical Skills:

  • Advanced mastery of Quality Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC) and 8D methodology.
  • Expert interpretation of GD&T blueprints; familiarity with IPC-A-610/620 standards.

• Language: Professional fluency in spoken and written English and Mandarin (to collaborate with cross-regional engineering teams and suppliers).
