QA SUPERVISOR

Position Summary

The QA Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure that manufactured products consistently meet company standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory and quality system requirements.

The position is responsible for monitoring production quality, leading quality improvement initiatives, maintaining compliance with ISO 9001, and applying Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologies to reduce defects, improve processes, and enhance overall product quality.

Key Responsibilities

1. Quality Assurance & Control

• Supervise daily QA/QC activities and ensure effective implementation of quality control procedures.
• Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with established specifications, standards, and work instructions.
• Review inspection and testing results and ensure that nonconforming products are properly identified, controlled, and dispositioned.
• Analyze quality issues, customer complaints, defects, and process deviations.
• Establish and monitor quality objectives, KPIs, and performance indicators.
• Ensure proper implementation of inspection, testing, sampling, and measurement procedures.

2. ISO 9001 Compliance

• Ensure compliance with the company's ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS).
• Participate in internal, external, and customer audits.
• Prepare departments and personnel for ISO audits and ensure timely closure of audit findings.
• Assist in maintaining and improving quality procedures, work instructions, forms, and other QMS documents.
• Monitor compliance with documented processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Lead or participate in corrective and preventive action activities related to audit findings and quality issues.

3. Six Sigma & Continuous Improvement

• Apply Six Sigma principles and problem-solving methodologies to improve manufacturing processes and reduce variation.
• Analyze process data and trends to identify root causes of defects and recurring quality problems.
• Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Monitor the effectiveness of implemented improvement actions.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and defect prevention within the organization.

4. Production Quality Monitoring

• Conduct regular inspections and quality audits within production areas.
• Work closely with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Warehouse, Purchasing, and other departments to resolve quality-related issues.
• Ensure that quality checkpoints and control measures are effectively implemented at critical stages of production.
• Review production and quality records for completeness and accuracy.
• Monitor process capability and identify areas requiring improvement.

5. Team Supervision

• Supervise, coach, and develop QA/QC personnel.
• Assign work schedules and responsibilities to QA inspectors and other quality personnel.
• Monitor team performance and ensure compliance with company policies and quality procedures.
• Conduct training and refresher sessions on quality standards, inspection methods, and procedures.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, discipline, and quality awareness.

6. Customer & Supplier Quality

• Assist in investigating and responding to customer complaints and quality concerns.
• Prepare quality reports, corrective action reports, and supporting documentation for customers when required.
• Coordinate with suppliers regarding incoming material quality issues and corrective actions.
• Participate in supplier evaluation and quality improvement activities.
• Ensure that customer requirements and quality specifications are properly communicated to relevant departments.

7. Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare and maintain quality reports, inspection records, nonconformance reports, CAPA reports, and quality performance reports.
• Analyze quality data and present findings and recommendations to management.
• Maintain accurate and traceable quality records in accordance with QMS requirements.
• Ensure proper control and retention of quality-related documents and records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
• At least 3–5 years of experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control within a manufacturing environment.
• At least 1–2 years of supervisory or team-lead experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.
• Knowledge of Six Sigma principles and methodologies, preferably with Six Sigma certification.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement is an advantage.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, inspection methods, and quality standards.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for quality data analysis and reporting.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.

Preferred Certifications

• ISO 9001 Internal Auditor / Lead Auditor
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
• Lean Manufacturing certification
• Quality-related certifications such as CQI/CQE or equivalent are an advantage.
