QA Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assists the QA Associate with in-process dimensional and visual inspection of carrier tapes. Responsible for handling and reviewing all products that are questionable or non-conforming.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collects samples and performs inspections in a timely manner using appropriate measuring equipment or tools. Keeps accurate records of work performed and retained samples.
• Shuts down production for a work order as required and communicates with setup and vision technicians regarding necessary adjustments.
• Conducts material containment and inspection through the Material Review Reports (MRR) process.
• Generates Certificates of Conformance, including customized CoCs.
• Manages retained sample archiving and performs simple data collection needed for customer issue investigations.
• Maintains a neat and organized work area.
• Participates in planning for policies, procedures, systems, problem-solving, and performance monitoring by serving on committees, task forces, and project teams.
• Performs other duties related to and implied by the responsibilities listed above.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Completed a vocational course or is a college undergraduate in Mechanical, Electronics, or Electrical fields.
• Ability to understand basic drawing specifications and tolerances.
• Skilled in using non-contact measurement equipment, calipers, gauges, and microscopes.
• Basic knowledge of quality control and quality management concepts.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
• Proficient in computer use, including email and basic MS applications like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and IATF 16949 requirements, processes, and internal quality audits.
• Familiar with APQP, PPAP, MSA, GR&R, SPC, Control Plan, Process Validation, Risk-Opportunity Assessment, VDA 6.3 Risk-Based Process Auditing, Equipment Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (eFMEA), and Responsible Business Alliance (RBA).

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

• Authority to:
• Accept products that conform to internal and customer specifications.
• Reject products and hold shipments when products fail to meet internal and customer specifications.
• Stop production runs when products fail to meet internal and customer specifications.
• Assist the QA Supervisor in initiating product recalls for nonconformity with internal and customer specifications.
• Scrap verified nonconforming products from production, in transit, or from product recalls.
• Issue ICARs when nonconformity with established procedures, work instructions, and other related procedures under the Quality Management System is observed.
• Exercise additional authority as delegated by the QA Supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMAND/ WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Vision correctable to adequately perform visual inspection functions
• Manual dexterity using hands and arms
• Ability to stand for long period of hours. Ability to work overtime as need arises
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 lbs
