QAQC Engineer

About the role

China Communications Construction Company (M) Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a dedicated QAQC Engineer to join our team in Kuching, Sarawak. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of quality, accuracy and compliance across our construction and engineering projects. As a QAQC Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining rigorous quality assurance and quality control processes that safeguard project integrity, regulatory compliance and client satisfaction. This role is essential to our commitment to delivering excellence in every project we undertake.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections and audits of construction sites, materials, equipment and work processes to ensure compliance with project specifications, standards and regulatory requirements
• Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive quality control plans and procedures tailored to specific project requirements
• Perform detailed testing of materials, components and finished work, documenting results and maintaining detailed quality records
• Identify quality issues, non-conformances and deviations from specifications, and prepare corrective action reports with recommendations for remediation
• Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors and contractors to resolve quality issues promptly and effectively
• Monitor and verify that all work meets contractual requirements, industry standards and company policies before approval and handover
• Prepare comprehensive quality assurance reports, including data analysis, findings and recommendations for continuous improvement
• Conduct training sessions and provide guidance to site personnel on quality standards, procedures and best practices
• Maintain accurate documentation of all inspections, tests, certifications and quality-related communications
• Liaise with relevant authorities and clients regarding quality certifications, compliance documentation and project reporting

What we're looking for

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
• Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in quality assurance and quality control within construction or engineering projects
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes, industry standards and relevant Malaysian regulations
• Proficiency in conducting material testing, inspections and audits, with experience using quality control equipment and testing instruments
• Solid understanding of quality management systems and familiarity with ISO standards (particularly ISO 9001)
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to prepare clear technical reports and documentation
• Proficiency in using computer systems and software for data analysis, reporting and documentation
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team environment
• Valid driver's license and willingness to conduct site inspections and fieldwork
• Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of Chinese is advantageous
