THE ROLE OVERVIEW
Support the delivery of high-quality construction works on site by carrying out day-to-day QA/QC inspections, verifying compliance with project requirements, and ensuring defects and non-conformances are identified, documented, and closed during the construction phase through to handover.
TASKS
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify the quality and compliance of construction works, including earthworks, civil works, ramming, mounting structures, cable installation, and PV module installation.
- Perform daily quality checks against approved drawings, specifications, method statements, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and manufacturer requirements.
- Complete and maintain site quality checklists, inspection records, photographic evidence, and as-built documentation.
- Support the preparation, implementation, and updating of project-specific ITPs, QA procedures, and inspection checklists.
- Review subcontractor quality documentation, including checklists, material certificates, test records, and as-built documentation.
- Identify deviations from specifications and agreed quality standards; raise, document, and track Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and snagging items through to closure.
- Verify that corrective actions are implemented effectively and that works are reinspected before acceptance.
- Ensure construction activities comply with project drawings, manufacturer installation instructions, applicable Irish building regulations, and relevant IS EN standards.
- Coordinate closely with the Site Manager, Construction Manager, subcontractors, and internal technical teams to resolve quality issues promptly.
- Support subcontractor onboarding and provide site-based QA/QC briefings and clarification on quality requirements where needed.
- Monitor the proper installation, storage, handling, and protection of materials and equipment on site.
- Use digital QA/QC tools to document inspections, manage NCRs, track snags, and maintain accurate project quality records.
- Provide regular quality updates, inspection findings, and key site observations to the Construction Manager and Head of Construction.
- Participate in key milestone inspections, commissioning readiness checks, and PAC/FAC handover activities.
- Support the compilation and review of quality dossiers, test records, and handover documentation.
- Contribute to lessons learned and continuous-improvement initiatives for future construction projects.
PROFILE
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a site-based QA/QC, Quality Engineer, Site Engineer, or similar role within EPC construction projects, ideally in the renewable energy sector.
- Practical experience overseeing civil, structural, and/or electrical construction activities on site.
- Good knowledge of construction processes, quality-control methods, materials, drawings, and industry regulations.
- Knowledge of Irish construction standards and regulations, including relevant IS EN standards, is highly desirable.
- Experience using inspection checklists, ITPs, NCR processes, snagging systems, and handover documentation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with site teams, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Exceptional attention to detail, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the confidence to challenge work that does not meet required standards.
- Ability to work independently in a site-based role while remaining a collaborative and reliable member of the wider project team.
Become part of a committed team shaping the future of clean energy, together.
