Job Opening: QA/QC Manager (Plastic Manufacturing)
Job Summary
Plastic Industry is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented QA/QC Manager to oversee the company's Quality Assurance and Quality Control functions. This role ensures that all products meet stringent internal quality standards, customer specifications, and relevant industry regulations. The manager will lead a team of QA/QC inspectors, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and integrate quality processes seamlessly with the Odoo 18 ERP system, particularly concerning production, inventory, and cost control at both the main facility and the UAQ manufacturing cell.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Management System (QMS) Leadership
Develop, implement, and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001 and other relevant industry standards for plastic manufacturing [1].
Ensure all quality procedures, work instructions, and documentation are up-to-date, accessible, and adhered to by all personnel.
Lead internal and external quality audits, managing non-conformances and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Raw Material & In-Process Quality Control
Establish and enforce inspection criteria for incoming raw plastic materials (e.g., polymers, additives, colorants) to ensure compliance with specifications, utilizing Odoo for material tracking and supplier performance.
Oversee in-process quality checks during extrusion, injection molding, blow molding, or other plastic conversion processes, ensuring adherence to critical parameters (e.g., temperature, pressure, cycle times).
Implement statistical process control (SPC) techniques to monitor and control manufacturing variability.
- Finished Product Quality Assurance
Define and manage final inspection protocols for finished plastic products, including dimensional accuracy, mechanical properties (e.g., tensile strength, impact resistance), visual aesthetics, and functional performance.
Ensure packaging and labeling comply with customer requirements and regulatory standards.
Manage product release processes, ensuring all quality checks are completed and documented within Odoo.
- Team Leadership & Development
Recruit, train, and mentor QA/QC personnel, fostering a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement.
Set clear performance objectives for the QA/QC team and conduct regular performance reviews.
- Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving
Analyze quality data (e.g., defect rates, customer complaints, scrap rates) to identify trends and root causes of quality issues.
Lead and facilitate problem-solving initiatives (e.g., 8D, FMEA, Lean Six Sigma) to eliminate recurring defects and improve process efficiency.
Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and R&D teams to implement corrective actions and process enhancements.
- Odoo 18 Integration & Data Management
Utilize Odoo 18 modules (e.g., Quality, Manufacturing, Inventory) to record, track, and analyze quality data.
Ensure accurate data entry for quality inspections, non-conformances, and CAPA within the ERP system.
Generate quality reports and dashboards from Odoo to provide real-time insights into quality performance.
Collaborate with the ERP implementation team to optimize Odoo workflows for quality control.
- Customer & Supplier Quality Management
Address customer quality complaints promptly, conducting root cause analysis and implementing effective corrective actions.
Evaluate and monitor supplier quality performance, working with procurement to ensure raw material quality and resolve supplier-related issues.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Plastics, Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical) or a related scientific field.
· Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in Quality Assurance/Control within the plastic manufacturing industry.
· Proven experience in implementing and managing QMS (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949).
· Strong knowledge of plastic materials, processing techniques (e.g., injection molding, extrusion), and testing methods.
· Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies (e.g., SPC, FMEA, 8D, Lean Six Sigma).
· Experience with ERP systems, preferably Odoo 18, and a strong understanding of its application in manufacturing and inventory.
