About Lotus Laser Systems

Lotus Laser Systems is a UK manufacturer of industrial laser marking, engraving and cutting systems, designed, built, tested and supported from Essex. Our range covers Lotus MOPA fibre, Lotus UV and Lotus CO2 systems, from standard machines through to bespoke and automated production cells.

Purpose of the role

You will be the checkpoint between our suppliers and our build team. Incoming parts, from precision CNC components and sheet metal to electronics and laser sources, are received, inspected and stored by you, then issued to the people building our machines.

Catching a wrong or damaged part at goods in saves days on a machine build. You will work closely with the Supply Chain and Logistics Controller, who relies on your inspection findings to resolve supplier issues, and with the assembly team on outgoing shipments.

Key responsibilitiesGoods receiving

· Receive deliveries and check them against the purchase order and delivery note for part number, quantity and condition.

· Record receipts promptly so stock levels and purchase records stay accurate.

· Report shortages, damage or incorrect items to the Supply Chain and Logistics Controller on the day, with photographs where useful.

· Receive warranty repairs and customer returns, logging their condition and contents on arrival.

Incoming quality checks

· Inspect incoming parts, such as CNC machined components, sheet metal, extrusions and panels, against drawings and specifications.

· Carry out visual and basic dimensional checks using measuring tools such as callipers and gauges .

· Quarantine and label non-conforming items, record what was found and pass the evidence to the Supply Chain and Logistics Controller for supplier follow-up.

Storage and retrieval

· Put stock away in the correct, labelled locations and keep stores organised, safe and easy to navigate.

· Pick parts for machine kits against picking lists and BOMs, and issue stock to assembly, R&D and support.

· Rotate stock so older items are used first, and keep sensitive items such as optics and electronics stored correctly.

Stock control

· Keep stock records accurate and carry out regular stock counts, investigating and reporting discrepancies.

· Alert the Supply Chain and Logistics Controller when items reach their reorder level, including long-lead parts and workshop consumables.

Dispatch

· Prepare outgoing goods, including spare parts, consumables and returns to suppliers, with the correct labels and paperwork.

· Support the assembly team with packing finished machines for shipping, including protective wrapping, moisture-barrier bags and desiccant, palletising and crating.

· Weigh and measure consignments and hand them over to couriers or freight collections. This role has no responsibility for booking couriers or freight collections.

Health and safety

· Follow site safety rules, safe manual handling practice and correct use of pallet trucks and other handling equipment.

· Keep walkways, racking and goods-in areas clear and report hazards or damaged equipment.

· Respect laser safety controls on site. This role does not operate laser systems unless trained and authorised.

Skills and experienceEssential

· Experience in goods in, stores, warehousing or stock control.

· Careful and methodical, with strong attention to detail on part numbers and quantities.

· Comfortable using spreadsheets, email and a stock or task system.

· Able to read delivery notes, picking lists and part labels accurately.

· Comfortable with regular lifting and moving of goods, with handling equipment provided.

· Reliable availability on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Desirable

· Incoming inspection or QC experience in an engineering or manufacturing setting.

· Confident using measuring tools and reading engineering drawings.

· Experience packing goods for export or international freight.

· Manual handling training or a relevant warehouse equipment licence.

Terms and how to apply

· Pay: £16.00 per hour, for 18 to 24 hours per week across Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with start and finish times within 08:30 to 17:00.

· Holiday: Full-time equivalent entitlement is 20 days annual leave plus public holidays, increasing by one day for each completed year of full and continuous service, up to a maximum of 25 days plus public holidays after five years. Annual leave and public holiday entitlement are pro-rated according to contracted working hours.

· Pension: Company pension scheme.

· Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.

· Applications must be submitted exclusively through the Indeed online recruitment service.

Pay: £15.00-£16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 18.0 – 24.0 per week
