• Ensure the project requirements were followed. Monitor, record and report all activities associated with surface preparation, coating and insulation.
• Read and familiarize with Project Codes/Specifications/Procedures/Method Statements/Manufacturers Data sheets Project Quality Plan (PQP) and Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) for coating and insulation.
• Conduct audit and check the calibration status of inspection tools and equipment, both for company and partners.
• Conduct validation for inspection tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working conditions.
• Witness applicators’ qualification test and evaluate applicators’ performance together with CETC examiner.
• Conduct induction to coating applicators to ensure clear for project requirements and good practices.
• Check Blasters/coating applicators’ qualification against approved project register.
• Witness test panel application and document as required.
• Complete the required tests of mock-up or coating procedure testing (CPT) test panels and record test results.
• Carry out storage surveillance inspection to ensure the blasting, coating consumables and insulation materials are properly stored.
• Ensure the verification of the releasing note status before blasting or insulation had been conducted; ensure all the relative parts have been released from the previous discipline.
• Verify and ensure that all sensitive areas (e.g. flange faces, machined surfaces and threads, etc) and that all open ends of hollow sections are protected against detritus/ debris/ blasting media ingress prior to any surface preparation.
• Where hand-tools are used for surface preparation, particularly in the case of repair areas, ensure that tools are of the correct type, e.g., iron free on stainless steel and exotic materials.
• Ensure caulking/sealing/masking where necessary has been completed satisfactorily.
• Verify and ensure that all sensitive areas/different coating system areas are protected against approved drawing or procedures prior to any coating application.
• Verify the material used, ensure that all coating products are of the correct manufacture, brand, type, colour and in valid period, material information include batch numbers are recorded.
• Witness coating thinning and mixing, ensure that correct mixing and thinning to Project specifications and manufacturer Product Data Sheet have taken place.
• Ensure final colour coat is as required by Project specification against paint matrix and line list.
• Ensure all the related tests are carried out as per the project required, include but not limited to the following listed tests:
• Check and verify any blasting medium are of the required type and ensure that it is certified.
• Carry out blotter test to ensure the cleanliness of blast/coating compressed air supply.
• Check nozzle sizes, air pressures and volumes, ensure the manufacturer’s recommendations for both blasting and coating application were followed.

Monitor the Air Temperature, Dew Point and Relative Humidity to ensure atmospheric conditions are met prior to any surface preparation and coating.

• Verify that all surfaces are following Project Specification requirements. Particularly ensure that “feathering” onto pre-applied coating, either during partial application or repair, has been completed to Project requirements
• Carry out surface roughness verifications, water soluble salt tests, and dust tests as per project requirements.
• Visual check the coating surface condition, measuring Wet Film Thickness (WFT) and Dry Film Thickness (DFT) ensure coatings were applied as required by the Project Specifications, PQP and ITP.
• Verify the final colour coat is as required by Project specification against paint matrix and line list
• Carry out adhesion test, curing test, holiday test when applicable using calibrated equipment as required by the Project Specifications, PQP and ITP.
• Conduct quality walk and monitor in the process, identify outstandings, input daily quality walk findings. Feedback and communicate with construction & subcontractor for all quality findings and defects. Follow up and ensure the negative findings/observations are rectified as per Project requirements.
• Ensures that non-conforming product and location are marked and segregated, all non-conformities are recorded and corrected as required.
• Call for client’s monitoring inspections after internally check/verification.
• Beside preparation, cross review the records and reports of team members, ensure all the reports and records were prepared as per project requirement.
• Provide the input for discipline weekly quality meeting, ensure quality issues were highlighted.
• Perform random inspections/audits on area inspection team members to ensure continuity and quality levels are being achieved and inspections performed.
• Attend discipline quality audit or vendor checking when required.
• Ensuring that area Inspection team members are aware that many of the dusts and vapours associated with blasting and coating are hazardous to their health, may be flammable and can cause reduced visibility, it is imperative and mandatory that Inspectors take precautions against inhalation and are keenly observant of unsafe acts, which should be stopped and reported to the Company HSE Department immediately.
• Generate and maintain registers and progress as may be required and advised by the QC Lead Inspector Coating.
