ROLE SUMMARY
The QC Inspector is responsible for executing independent in-process, receiving, and final dimensional inspections across raw materials and precision-machined oil and gas components. This role requires hands-on expertise in advanced metrology equipment—including FaroArm and CMM systems—as well as specialized thread and mechanical gauging to guarantee strict adherence to customer drawings and specifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Dimensional & Final Inspection: Independently conduct precision dimensional, in-process, and final inspections on raw materials and finished machined parts in accordance with customer drawings, BOMs, and Quality Plans.
- Advanced Metrology & Gauge Operation: Set up and operate coordinate measuring equipment (FaroArm, CMM) along with standard and specialized oilfield measurement tools (e.g., micrometer, calipers, bore gauges, thread pitch gauges, height gauges).
- Thread & Hardness Verification: Perform accurate thread measurements and hardness testing, ensuring parts comply with manufacturing tolerances and critical energy-sector standards.
- Documentation & Reporting: Generate detailed receiving, in-process, hardness, and final dimensional inspection reports as required by client documentation packages.
- Tool & Gauge Management: Perform gauge setting and verify that all monitoring, measuring, and testing equipment is calibrated, functioning properly, and within validity dates.
- Non-Conformance Handling: Identify and quarantine out-of-spec parts, raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and maintain accurate NCR logs and calibration records.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Technical Certificate, NITEC, Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Precision Machining, Quality Assurance, or equivalent practical trade experience.
- Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on QC inspection experience within oil & gas precision machining, heavy manufacturing, or precision engineering environments will be an added advantage.
- Proven proficiency in operating FaroArm and/or CMM equipment.
- Strong competency in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), BOMs, and Quality Plans.
- Meticulous, highly self-directed, capable of working independently on the shop floor, and collaborative within production teams.
