Job Summary

Desertman Transporting and Contracting LLC is seeking a detail-oriented and technically competent QC Technician to support our construction and infrastructure operations in Abu Dhabi.

The successful candidate will assist in inspecting construction activities and materials, coordinating field and laboratory tests, maintaining quality records, and ensuring that work complies with approved drawings, project specifications, inspection procedures and applicable quality standards.

We are looking for a practical, hands-on professional who can work closely with site engineers, supervisors, subcontractors and the QA/QC team to maintain consistent quality across project activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine site inspections to verify that construction activities comply with approved drawings, project specifications, method statements and quality requirements.
• Inspect construction materials upon delivery and verify their condition and compliance with approved material submittals.
• Assist with quality control activities related to earthworks, excavation, backfilling, soil compaction, roadworks, concrete and other civil works, as applicable to project requirements.
• Coordinate field inspections and laboratory testing with approved third-party laboratories.
• Assist with soil and aggregate sampling, field density testing, compaction testing and concrete sampling or testing where required and where appropriately trained.
• Check that inspection and testing activities are carried out according to approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), checklists and project procedures.
• Record inspection findings, measurements, test results and material inspection details accurately.
• Identify defective work, material discrepancies and deviations from project specifications, and report them promptly to the responsible engineer or supervisor.
• Assist in documenting non-conformities and tracking corrective actions until closure.
• Maintain organized QC records, inspection reports, material certificates, laboratory test reports and other quality-related documents.
• Coordinate with site engineers, construction supervisors, subcontractors and QA/QC personnel to resolve quality issues.
• Monitor the condition, calibration status and proper use of inspection and testing equipment.
• Support internal inspections, quality audits and project handover documentation.
• Follow company procedures and applicable health, safety and environmental requirements while performing inspections.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Diploma or technical qualification in Civil Engineering, Civil Technology, Construction Technology, Materials Testing or a related field.
• Previous experience in quality control, construction inspection, materials testing or civil infrastructure projects is preferred.
• Practical knowledge of construction materials, inspection methods and quality control procedures.
• Familiarity with earthworks, soil compaction, aggregates, concrete or road construction is an advantage.
• Ability to read and understand basic engineering drawings, technical specifications and inspection checklists.
• Knowledge of inspection records, test reports, material certificates and non-conformance reporting.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Good communication, reporting, organization and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work on construction sites and coordinate effectively with site personnel.
• Willingness to travel between project sites within Abu Dhabi, when required.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience with UAE construction or infrastructure projects.
• Experience coordinating with approved soil, aggregate or concrete testing laboratories.
• Familiarity with WIR/IR, MIR, ITPs, NCRs and other construction quality documentation.
• Experience with roads, utilities, earthworks, transportation infrastructure or general contracting projects.
