What they need
Every day, North Star vessels operate in some of the most demanding environments in the world.
Our crews deliver safety-critical services to offshore installations across the North Sea, providing emergency response, rescue and specialist maritime support that millions rely upon, but few ever see.
Behind every safe operation, every successful audit, every lesson learned and every risk avoided is a team committed to raising standards and doing the right thing.
We're looking for a QHSSE Advisor to be part of that team.
This is an opportunity to step into a highly influential role where you'll work alongside vessel crews, operational leaders and technical specialists to strengthen safety, improve performance and ensure operational excellence across our fleet of Emergency Response & Rescue Vessels (ERRVs), Multi Role Support Vessels (MRSVs) and Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs).
Why This Role Matters This isn't a role spent sitting behind a desk reviewing procedures.
You'll be out engaging with vessel teams, travelling across the fleet, investigating incidents, leading audits, challenging the status quo and helping operational teams solve real-world problems.
You'll be a trusted advisor, a coach, an investigator and an advocate for continual improvement.
Most importantly, you'll help ensure that our people return home safely, every day.
What You'll Be Doing As a key member of the QHSSE team, you will:
- Drive assurance activities across vessel and shore operations.
- Lead and support audits, inspections and compliance reviews.
- Investigate incidents and identify opportunities to strengthen operational performance.
- Support risk management and help embed effective controls throughout the business.
- Work directly with vessel crews to promote a proactive safety culture and Just Culture principles.
- Analyse trends, identify emerging risks and influence meaningful change.
- Support emergency preparedness and operational resilience across the fleet.
- Build trusted relationships with regulators, clients, auditors and operational leaders.
Who We're Looking For You'll be someone who is naturally curious, comfortable asking difficult questions and passionate about improving how things are done.
You may come from a maritime, offshore energy, shipping, defence or other high-hazard operational environment, but what matters most is your ability to influence, engage and drive improvement.
You'll Bring
- Experience in QHSSE, assurance, compliance or operational safety.
- Knowledge of maritime operations and relevant industry standards.
- Strong investigation and root cause analysis capability.
- Confidence engaging with people at all levels of the organisation.
- A pragmatic and solutions-focused mindset.
- The credibility to challenge constructively and support operational teams in equal measure.
Why Join North Star? North Star has been supporting offshore operations for more than 135 years and today operates one of the largest fleets dedicated to the offshore energy sector.
We're investing in our future, growing our capabilities and continuing to evolve alongside the industries we serve.
Joining North Star Means Joining a Business Where
- Safety is non-negotiable.
- People genuinely matter.
- Continuous improvement is expected.
- Professional development is encouraged.
- Your work will have a visible impact on operational performance and the safety of those working offshore.
Ready to Make a Difference? If you're looking for a role where your expertise will shape safety, strengthen operational performance and directly support those working at sea, we'd love to hear from you.
Join North Star and help us set the standard for safe, reliable and world-class offshore operations.
