What they need

JOB TITLE: Qualification Specialist

DEPARTMENT: Sales

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Sales Manager / Assistant Sales Manager

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt/Hourly

JOB SUMMARY:

The Qualification Specialist serves as the first point of contact for consumers seeking debt-relief assistance. The Qualification Specialist engages prospects, builds initial rapport, obtains authorization for a soft credit review, identifies qualifying debt, and completes a warm transfer to a Certified Debt Specialist (Closer) for consultation and enrollment.

This role is focused on speed, efficiency, and qualifications. Qualification Specialists create a positive customer experience while ensuring qualified opportunities are routed to experienced specialists for the full presentation, consultation, and enrollment process.

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Create trust, obtain the credit report, identify qualifying debt, and efficiently transfer qualified consumers to a Certified Debt Specialist, maximizing the number of quality opportunities entering the enrollment process.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Client Engagement
    • Respond promptly to inbound opportunities.
    • Establish rapport and create a professional first impression.
    • Confirm that the consumer requested information regarding debt-relief solutions.
    • Set clear expectations for the qualification process.
  • Qualification & Discovery
    • Gather key information regarding unsecured debt obligations.
    • Understand the client’s primary financial concerns and goals.
    • Verify basic qualification requirements.
    • Document relevant information accurately within company systems.
  • Credit Review Process
    • Explain the purpose of the soft credit review using approved language.
    • Obtain authorization to conduct the credit review.
    • Review credit-report information to identify qualifying debt.
    • Confirm that the prospect meets minimum qualification requirements.
  • Sales Handoff
    • Prepare concise notes and qualification details for the receiving Certified Debt Specialist.
    • Complete a professional warm transfer to an available Certified Debt Specialist.
    • Ensure continuity of the customer experience throughout the transfer process.
  • Compliance & Documentation
    • Adhere to all company, state, and federal compliance requirements.
    • Use approved call scripts, disclosures, and procedures.
    • Maintain accurate records of all interactions and outcomes.
    • Apply appropriate dispositions and status updates in CRM systems.

ROLE SCOPE & GUARDRAILS

The Qualification Specialist role is intentionally limited in scope. The Qualification Specialist creates

  • Deliver the full debt-relief presentation.
  • Conduct extensive hardship discovery.
  • Review every tradeline or account with the client.
  • Discuss settlement strategies, fees, savings projections, timelines, creditor negotiations or detailed program mechanics.
  • Handle complex or extended objections.
  • Present enrollment documents or complete enrollments.
  • Guarantee outcomes, approvals, savings, or client eligibility.

KNOWLEDGE AND ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Previous sales, customer service, call center, or financial-services experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal communication and active-listening skills.
  • Ability to build rapport quickly and guide a focused conversation.
  • Basic computer and CRM proficiency.
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy.
  • Strong attention to detail and compliance requirements.

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE

No degree requirement. Relevant customer service, sales, or production-environment experience preferred.
