Salary: £14.00–£15.00 per hour, depending on experience
Job Type: Full-time
GDC Registration: Essential
Private Practice Experience: Preferred

Job Summary

Are you an experienced Dental Nurse who genuinely enjoys dentistry, takes pride in delivering exceptional patient care and wants to be part of a progressive, fully private dental practice?

At Whitefield Dental Practice, we're looking for a friendly, confident and motivated Qualified Dental Nurse to join our growing team.

We are a modern, forward-thinking private dental practice offering a wide range of treatments, from general and preventative dentistry to advanced cosmetic, restorative and surgical procedures.

We're looking for someone who sees dental nursing as more than just a job. Someone who enjoys building genuine relationships with patients, takes initiative, works confidently alongside clinicians and understands the importance of delivering an outstanding private patient experience.

Ideally, you'll have experience working in a private dental setting and be comfortable supporting both clinical and reception duties. We value versatile team members who can contribute to all aspects of the patient journey and help ensure the practice runs smoothly.

We strongly believe in recognising and rewarding our team's contributions, offering opportunities for professional development, additional qualifications and a 1% incentive on eligible treatment generated through your own patient engagement.

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay of £14.00–£15.00 per hour, depending on experience and skill set.
  • Paid GDC registration and professional indemnity.
  • 1% treatment incentive scheme for eligible treatment generated through your own patient engagement.
  • Fully private practice with modern facilities, advanced technology and digital workflows.
  • Career development and progression, including support and funding for additional qualifications.
  • Exposure to advanced treatments, including dental implants, full-arch rehabilitation, IV sedation, oral surgery, Invisalign, cosmetic dentistry and facial aesthetics.
  • Opportunities to develop additional skills in reception, treatment coordination, patient engagement and practice operations.
  • A friendly, supportive and collaborative team where your contributions are valued.
  • Company events and team activities.
  • Employee discounts.
  • Free on-site parking.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Nursing

  • Provide high-quality chairside assistance during general, cosmetic, restorative and surgical procedures.
  • Anticipate clinicians' requirements and ensure all necessary instruments, materials and equipment are prepared.
  • Maintain exceptional standards of infection prevention, decontamination and cross-infection control.
  • Ensure surgeries are fully prepared, organised, stocked and maintained throughout the working day.
  • Assist with digital dentistry workflows, including intraoral scanning, clinical photography and digital patient records.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with GDC, CQC and practice policies.
  • Work proactively with clinicians and colleagues to ensure efficient appointment flow and high standards of clinical care.
  • Take responsibility for maintaining a clean, safe and organised clinical environment.

Patient Experience & Engagement

We believe that exceptional patient care goes beyond the clinical treatment itself.

As a fully private practice, we're looking for someone who understands the importance of making every patient feel welcome, comfortable and valued.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering a warm, professional and personalised experience to every patient.
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with patients, particularly those who may feel nervous or anxious.
  • Supporting clinicians in communicating treatment recommendations and helping patients understand their treatment journey.
  • Recognising appropriate opportunities to introduce patients to services that may benefit them, such as clear aligners, teeth whitening, cosmetic dentistry and preventative care.
  • Promoting our dental membership plans, helping patients understand the benefits of ongoing preventative care.
  • Encouraging satisfied patients to leave genuine Google reviews, helping us build our reputation through positive patient experiences without pressuring patients.
  • Supporting treatment acceptance through natural, informative conversations rather than high-pressure sales techniques.
  • Contributing ideas to continually improve patient satisfaction and the overall patient journey.

1% Treatment Incentive Scheme

We recognise that dental nurses play an important role in helping patients discover treatments they may be interested in.

To reward this contribution, we offer a 1% incentive on eligible treatment generated directly through your own patient engagement.

For example:

A patient attends for a routine dental examination. During your conversation, you mention clear aligners or professional teeth whitening, and the patient expresses an interest in finding out more.

You help arrange a consultation or discussion with the appropriate clinician, and the patient subsequently decides to proceed with treatment following a suitable clinical assessment.

Where the treatment meets the incentive scheme criteria, you would receive 1% of the eligible treatment value.

This scheme is designed to reward proactive communication, patient education and genuine contributions to practice growth.

We are not looking for someone to deliver a sales pitch. We want a nurse who genuinely cares about patients, communicates naturally and understands how excellent patient care contributes to the success of a private practice.

All treatment decisions remain clinically led, with patient suitability and informed consent taking priority.

Reception & Administrative Support

We are ideally looking for a versatile Dental Nurse who is comfortable supporting both clinical and front-of-house operations.

Cross-training in reception is an important part of how our team works, allowing us to provide a seamless patient experience and support one another during busy periods.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Welcoming patients and delivering a professional reception experience.
  • Managing appointment bookings, cancellations and diary coordination.
  • Handling telephone calls, emails and patient enquiries.
  • Supporting treatment bookings, follow-up communications and patient recalls.
  • Discussing appointment arrangements, payment options and membership plans.
  • Processing payments and supporting routine reception administration.
  • Maintaining accurate patient information and clinical records.
  • Working collaboratively with the reception team to ensure a smooth and efficient patient journey.

Previous dental reception experience would be highly advantageous, although training can be provided to the right candidate.

Dentally & Digital Systems

We are a digitally focused practice using Dentally as our practice management system.

Previous experience using Dentally would be highly advantageous, particularly for managing patient records, appointment diaries, treatment plans, payments and reception workflows.

We are ideally looking for someone who is confident using dental software and comfortable transitioning between clinical and administrative responsibilities.

Dentally experience is preferred but not essential, as training can be provided to a candidate who demonstrates strong IT skills and a willingness to learn.

About YouEssential Requirements

  • Qualified Dental Nurse with current GDC registration.
  • Previous dental nursing experience.
  • A genuine passion for dentistry and delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A friendly, confident and professional manner.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask in a busy clinical environment.
  • A proactive approach, with the ability to anticipate what needs doing rather than waiting to be asked.
  • Confidence using digital systems and maintaining accurate clinical records.
  • A positive, dependable and team-oriented attitude.
  • A willingness to support both clinical and reception responsibilities.
  • Enthusiasm for developing new skills and contributing to the wider practice.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience in a fully private or predominantly private dental practice.
  • Experience using Dentally practice management software is highly desirable.
  • Dental reception experience, including appointment scheduling, patient communications and payment processing.
  • At least two years of dental nursing experience.
  • Experience assisting with implants, cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, oral surgery or sedation.
  • Familiarity with intraoral scanners, clinical photography and digital dentistry workflows.
  • Confidence discussing cosmetic treatments, dental membership plans and supporting patient treatment journeys.
  • Additional dental nursing qualifications or an interest in pursuing further training.

The Person We're Looking For

Qualifications and experience are important, but finding the right person for our team matters just as much.

Our ideal candidate is someone who:

  • Genuinely enjoys dental nursing and takes pride in their profession.
  • Loves working with patients and naturally builds positive relationships.
  • Understands private dentistry and the importance of delivering a personalised, high-quality service.
  • Is versatile and adaptable, happy to support both clinical and reception responsibilities when needed.
  • Takes initiative, recognises what needs doing and actively contributes to the smooth running of the practice.
  • Communicates confidently, helping patients understand their options and feel comfortable discussing treatment.
  • Works well within a team, supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive working environment.
  • Is ambitious and eager to develop, whether through advanced clinical training, patient coordination or future leadership opportunities.
  • Pays attention to detail, maintaining high standards in everything they do.
  • Is reliable and accountable, taking ownership of their responsibilities and contributing positively to the team.

We want someone who brings enthusiasm, professionalism and a genuine commitment to helping our patients and practice thrive.

Why Join Whitefield Dental Practice?

At Whitefield Dental Practice, we're committed to providing exceptional dentistry while creating an environment where our team can grow professionally.

You'll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced clinicians, assist with a diverse range of advanced procedures and develop skills beyond traditional chairside nursing.

We recognise that excellent dental nurses are fundamental to the success of our practice. That's why we invest in training, encourage professional development and offer opportunities to take on additional responsibilities.

Whether your interests lie in advanced clinical nursing, implants, sedation, treatment coordination or future leadership opportunities, we'd love to support your professional development.

If you're an experienced Dental Nurse who enjoys the profession, thrives in a private setting and wants to be part of an ambitious, supportive team, we'd love to hear from you!
