Quality Assurance Assistant

Job Summary
The Quality Assurance (QA) Assistant supports the QA Manager in maintaining the facility’s food safety and quality management programs in a fast-paced commercial bakery and food manufacturing environment. This position helps verify compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP-based food safety procedures, applicable FDA requirements, and Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards. Responsibilities include routine inspections, accurate recordkeeping, production monitoring, employee training support, and preparation for customer, regulatory, and third-party audits.

Responsibilities
Assist in conducting comprehensive quality audits throughout the production process to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to established quality standards.
Support quality control inspections by examining raw materials, in-process components, and finished products using appropriate testing methods and tools.
Maintain accurate data collection records related to quality metrics, inspection results, and non-conformance reports for analysis and reporting purposes.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and legal standards such as FDA regulations, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), ASME codes & standards, and food safety protocols.
Participate in routine calibration and validation activities to verify that equipment and processes meet quality specifications.
Assist in implementing corrective actions based on audit findings or inspection results to prevent recurrence of issues.
Promote a safe working environment by adhering to personal protective equipment (PPE) use policies and supporting safety protocols during all quality activities.

Skills
Strong understanding of quality audits, QA/QC procedures, and quality systems within manufacturing settings.
Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards including FDA regulations, GMP, food safety standards, and ASME codes & standards.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for data collection, documentation, and reporting tasks.
Experience with quality inspection techniques, data analysis, and maintaining detailed records of quality metrics.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality assurance practices, and quality management principles.
Ability to follow strict safety protocols including PPE use while conducting inspections or audits.
Excellent attention to detail combined with strong communication skills to document findings clearly and collaborate effectively with team members.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
