What they need
Ready to advance your technical career and lead from the front? Greenfield Foods Ltd packs and distributes over 7 million eggs weekly for the Irish marketplace. As a Bord Bia Quality Assured, and BRCGS Grade A accredited industry leader, we are looking for a sharp, driven Quality Assurance Assistant.
This is not a passive desk job. Working hand-in-hand as the first-line support to our Quality Manager, you will actively shape our floor standards. Crucially, you will be trained, trusted, and empowered to step up and lead audits in the manager's absence. Whether you are an experienced assistant or an ambitious technician looking to step up, this role offers real responsibility and career progression.
The Role: What You’ll Do
- First-Line Support: Work closely with the Quality Manager to monitor, verify, and maintain food safety, hygiene, and product quality compliance across the site.
- Audit Leadership: Actively assist with customer, regulatory, and certification audits. You will provide critical management cover and take the lead role in audits when required.
- On-the-Floor Quality: Conduct routine hygiene inspections, verify product specifications, and run safety checks from intake to final presentation.
- Resolve & Escalate: Accurately log QA check sheets, identify non-conformances, and collaborate directly with production teams to implement swift corrective actions.
- Culture Champion: Protect and promote a robust food-safety culture (including HACCP, VACCP & TACCP) across all production departments.
What We Are Looking For
- The "Step Up" Attitude: A confident team player who can work independently, make decisions under pressure, and comfortably handle a fast-paced environment.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal skills to build strong, collaborative relationships across different departments and front an audit with confidence.
- Eye for Detail: Exceptional organisational and traceability skills with an absolute commitment to accurate labelling and record-keeping.
- Experience & Knowledge (Desirable): A background in the food industry (2+ years) with a working knowledge of BRCGS, HACCP, and food legislation.
- Education: A 3rd-level qualification in Food Science, Food Safety, or a related discipline is an advantage, alongside solid MS Office skills.
- Flexibility: While core hours are Monday–Friday, you are proactive and flexible to meet business needs, including working public holidays and weekends on a fair staff rotation.
What’s in it for You?
- Competitive Salary with attractive overtime rates for non-core hours and weekend work.
- Direct mentorship from an experienced Quality Manager with opportunities for growth.
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Smithborough, County Monaghan: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Work Location: In person
