Quality Assurance Manager

Kromco (Pty) Ltd., based in Grabouw , is a major player in the pome fruit industry and is looking for an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to lead quality assurance and food safety across its apple and pear packing and storage operations.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with a practical approach to managing standards and working with producers, operational teams, suppliers, and customers.

The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to): *Lead quality assurance and food safety from fruit intake to dispatch *Maintain HACCP and BRCGS systems and ensure compliance *Oversee fruit quality assessments and customer specifications *Investigate quality losses and implement improvements *Manage traceability, audits, corrective actions and customer complaints *Train and guide packhouse teams on food safety and quality standards *Travel internationally to visit clients and build relationships *Monitor quality trends and manage the QA budget *All other tasks related to the role.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience:

• BSc degree in Food Science, Horticulture, Agriculture or related field;

• Proven quality management experience (apple and pear packing/post-harvest sector);

• Practical experience with HACCP and BRCGS;

• Knowledge of apple and pear post-harvest, quality defects, cooling and storage;

• Experience with audits, non-conformances and customer complaints;

• Strong analytical, communication and team leadership skills;

• Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.
