Quality Manager (HSEQ) — Chemical Manufacturing

Location: Haverhill, Suffolk | Onsite | Permanent

A UK chemical manufacturer supplying regulated customers is looking for a Quality Manager to take ownership of quality across its manufacturing site, with health, safety and environmental compliance alongside.

You’ll come from a quality background in manufacturing. If you already hold a NEBOSH certificate and have picked up H&S along the way, that’s ideal — but the safety side can be developed for the right person. What matters is that you understand how a plant runs and can work alongside production and engineering rather than at a distance from them.

It’s a hands-on, old-school manufacturing site. You’d spend your time out on the plant rather than behind a desk.

Quality — the core of the role

• Own customer validation at plant level, including IQ, OQ and PQ, from protocol through to close-out
• Act as the site’s quality contact for customers, hosting audits and managing validation projects that can run over several months
• Own change control, CAPA and non-conformance investigation
• Maintain ISO 9001 and run the internal audit programme

Health, Safety & Environmental — developed if needed

• Site safety management system and ISO 45001
• DSEAR and hazardous area compliance (the site has ATEX zoned areas — training provided if this is new to you)
• HAZOP participation and plant design reviews
• Incident investigation and root cause analysis, driving actions through operational teams
• ISO 14001, environmental permit, trade effluent and waste

What you’ll bring

• A quality background in manufacturing — chemical, pharmaceutical, food, medical device, personal care or similar
• Hands-on experience of validation or equipment qualification at plant level
• Customer audit and change control experience
• NEBOSH General Certificate, or a willingness to work towards it
• ISO internal auditor qualification
• The confidence to influence without direct authority — this role has no direct reports and delivers through operational teams
• A practical, technical mindset and credibility on the shop floor
