What they need

About the role

OTOKI New Zealand Ltd. is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Quality Assurance Officer to join our team on a full-time basis, based in Takanini, Auckland. In this role, you'll play a key part in maintaining and enhancing quality standards across our manufacturing and logistics operations — implementing quality control procedures, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company standards. You'll be a centre to our commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction through rigorous quality management.

We welcome applications at all experience levels. Whether you're an experienced QA professional or just starting your career in quality assurance, we'd love to hear from you. Full training and mentorship will be provided to the right candidate — a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to learn matter just as much as prior experience.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct routine and systematic inspections of products, materials, and processes against established quality standards and specifications
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control procedures and documentation
  • Perform testing and analysis using appropriate QA techniques and equipment
  • Identify non-conformities, defects, and deviations, and initiate corrective and preventative actions
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and corrective actions for audit and compliance purposes
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and logistics teams to resolve quality issues and drive improvements
  • Train staff on quality standards, procedures, and best practices
  • Prepare quality reports and present findings to management
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations, standards, and company policies
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and quality audits
  • Assist the R&D team with sample preparation for customers

(Entry-level applicants will start with a narrower scope of responsibilities and build up to the full role as training progresses.)

What we're looking for

  • Formal qualification in quality assurance, quality control, engineering, or a related discipline (or currently studying towards one)
  • Experience in a QA or quality control role within manufacturing or logistics is an advantage but not essential — entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply
  • Sound knowledge of quality management systems, RMP, and SQF is beneficial (or willingness to learn)
  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent observational and analytical skills
  • Proficiency with quality control equipment and testing instruments, or aptitude to learn
  • Solid computer literacy, including quality management software and Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across all levels of the organisation
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Problem-solving mindset, with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions
  • Knowledge of relevant New Zealand regulations and standards is advantageous
  • Certification in quality assurance or a related field is beneficial but not required
