What they need
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Officer to safeguard the standard of craftsmanship that defines our furniture. The QA Officer will inspect raw materials, monitor production processes, and evaluate finished furniture pieces to ensure every item that leaves the factory meets design specifications, structural integrity standards, and finish quality before it reaches the customer.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect incoming raw materials (wood, foam, fabric, metal fittings, finishes) for quality and conformity to procurement specifications before they enter production.
- Monitor production processes at each stage — cutting, joinery, assembly, upholstery, finishing/painting — to identify defects early and reduce rework.
- Carry out final inspection of completed furniture pieces, checking structural strength, dimensional accuracy, surface finish, stitching/upholstery quality, and overall aesthetics against approved product specifications.
- Develop, document, and update quality control checklists and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for each product line.
- Identify, tag, and report defective items or process deviations, and coordinate with production supervisors on corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain accurate quality inspection records, defect logs, and rejection reports for management review.
- Conduct root-cause analysis on recurring quality issues (e.g., warping, uneven finishing, loose joints) and recommend process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety standards and relevant furniture manufacturing/industry quality benchmarks.
- Liaise with the design and production teams to ensure new product prototypes meet quality and durability requirements before mass production.
- Support supplier quality evaluation and periodic audits of material vendors.
- Train and guide production staff on quality standards, proper handling, and defect-prevention techniques.
Qualifications & Experience
- HND / B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Wood/Furniture Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2–4 years' experience in a quality assurance/control role within a furniture, woodworking, or manufacturing production environment.
- Working knowledge of furniture materials (wood, foam, fabric, veneer, metal fittings) and common production defects.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and tools (e.g., checklists, root-cause analysis, ISO 9001 principles is an advantage).
- Proficiency in MS Office/Excel for inspection reporting and documentation.
