Quality Assurance Technician

Summary of Role & Responsibilities

The Quality Assurance Technician position is a member of the Quality Assurance/Control Department. The Quality Assurance Technician performs administrative duties, conducts or assists in compliance inspections and plant monitoring, conducts microbiological testing to include detailed bio-mapping of areas and processes, conducts GMP training, and assist the QA Manager in accident and incident investigations.

Essential Job Functions/Duties

Below is a brief outline of the essential job functions and duties, which may be adjusted by management from time to time.

1. Maintain and generate HACCP, GMP, SSOP records, electronic/hard copy in accordance with company written programs and USDA regulations.

2. Maintain product specification sheets in electronic form to include ongoing verification and updates as needed.

3. Conduct Root Cause Analysis on all customer complaints and returns.

4. Ensure all labeling meets USDA compliance guidelines as well as applying for new label approvals as needed.

5. Promote strong food safety culture through ongoing training of production employees.

6. Conduct in-house testing of raw materials, processing equipment, bio-mapping, shelf-life tests, organoleptic testing.

7. Outsource testing with USDA approved lab for AOAC testing of Joyce Farms products.

8. Research and development of new products to include costing and efficiency/compliance.

9. Maintain event schedules involving training, auditing, incident and accident investigations, and preventative maintenance.

10. Perform pre and post operational inspections to ensure plant readiness through sanitation programs.

11. Continuous improvement off all daily tasks in QA and Sanitation departments (Eliminate 2 secs per day; daily)

Those duties are delegated by the QA Manager. Any issues or concerns of the operational area will be handled by the QA Department. Any conflicts or interference in accomplishing operational inspection or sanitation requirements will be brought to the plant management. QA personnel have the full authority, after consultation with the QA Manager or Director of Operations, to close the operational plant down until any deficit is corrected. Any employee that fails to follow the instructions of the Operations Manager or QC Manager is subject to immediate discipline, up to and including termination.

Supervision

Qualifications & Education Requirements

1. High school graduate or equivalent required, but relevant work experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

2. HACCP Certified preferred, but not required.

3. Bilingual in English-Spanish languages preferred, but not required.
