Job Summary:

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspecting modular homes throughout the manufacturing process to ensure that all materials, components, workmanship, and finished units meet company quality standards, approved plans and specifications, applicable building codes, and customer requirements.

This position works closely with production teams, supervisors, subcontractors, and management to identify defects, document discrepancies, verify corrective actions, and help ensure each modular home is safe, structurally sound, and ready for delivery and installation.

Responsibilities:

Inspection & Testing

  • Perform routine and rigorous quality inspections at various stages of production (framing, MEP rough-ins, insulation, drywall, finishes, and final exterior/interior fit-out).
  • Conduct structural checks, ensuring wall plumb, square, and level tolerances adhere to engineering specifications.
  • Inspect mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) installations prior to wall/ceiling close-up to ensure compliance with national and local codes.
  • Perform water-spray testing and structural integrity checks to verify that transport-induced stress resilience is built into each module.
  • Reinspect repaired or reworked areas before approving them for the next production stage.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate daily inspection logs, photographs, checklists, documentation and quality records for every module serial number.
  • Verify that all third-party agency (IPIA/State Plan) inspection requirements and documentation stamps are strictly followed and signed off.
  • Document non-conformance issues immediately, issuing corrective action reports (CARs) to production supervisors and tracking them through resolution.

Continuous Improvement & Safety

  • Collaborate with production line leads and plant managers to identify root causes of recurring defects and implement preventative measures.
  • Participate in daily/weekly quality huddles to discuss defect trends and promote a culture of craftsmanship and accountability.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned or as necessary to support business needs.

·Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2–5 years of experience in QA/QC, building inspection, or general construction management (modular or off-site construction experience strongly preferred).
  • Code Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of the International Residential Code (IRC), National Electrical Code (NEC), and state-specific modular building regulations.
  • Blueprint Literacy: Ability to read and interpret complex architectural blueprints, structural engineering drawings, and MEP schematics.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using precision measurement tools (laser levels, tape measures, framing squares, multi-meters). Basic computer literacy for logging data into quality management software.
  • · Attributes: High attention to detail, strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to hold production teams accountable respectfully and firmly.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing/industrial environment
