What they need

The Quality Control Inspector will perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of precision-machined components. This role requires strong knowledge of engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), precision measuring instruments, and quality documentation.

The ideal candidate has experience in a CNC machining environment and understands the importance of accuracy, traceability, and compliance with aerospace quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of precision-machined components.
  • Inspect aerospace and other precision components against engineering drawings, customer specifications, and applicable quality requirements.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and inspection requirements.
  • Operate precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, and other inspection equipment.
  • Perform dimensional inspections using coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and other advanced measurement systems.
  • Use CMM software, such as PC-DMIS or equivalent, to measure and verify component dimensions where applicable.
  • Conduct visual inspections to identify defects, surface imperfections, and dimensional non-conformities.
  • Complete inspection reports, first-article inspection documentation, and other quality records as required.
  • Verify material certifications, work orders, and supporting documentation to maintain product traceability.
  • Identify, document, and report non-conforming materials or products in accordance with established procedures.
  • Work closely with CNC machinists, programmers, and production personnel to investigate quality issues and support corrective actions.
  • Maintain calibration and inspection records for measuring equipment as required.
  • Support internal and external audits and help maintain compliance with AS9100D and ISO 9001 quality management system requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and improve manufacturing quality.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Previous experience in quality inspection within a CNC machine shop or precision manufacturing environment.
  • Experience inspecting aerospace components is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and dimensional tolerances.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
  • Experience operating CMM equipment and familiarity with PC-DMIS or equivalent software is an asset.
  • Knowledge of AS9100D and ISO 9001 quality management system requirements.
  • Familiarity with first-article inspection, inspection reports, non-conformance reporting, and product traceability.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with production personnel.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to accuracy, quality, and adherence to established procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an aerospace machining or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with 3-, 4-, or 5-axis CNC-machined components.
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Experience supporting AS9100D or ISO 9001 audits.

How to Apply

If you have a strong background in precision inspection and are passionate about maintaining high-quality standards in manufacturing, we encourage you to apply.

Please submit your resume outlining your relevant inspection experience, measuring equipment expertise, CMM programming or operating experience, and knowledge of aerospace quality standards.
