QUALITY CONTROL OFFICER

Reports To: Quality Control Manager, Quality Assurance Manager, or Production Manager.

Job Description

The Quality Control Officer will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and monitoring raw materials, production processes, equipment hygiene, and finished products to ensure compliance with established quality standards, safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines.

The officer monitors product quality, verifies cleaning and sterilization procedures where applicable, identifies defects, maintains accurate quality records, and recommends corrective actions to ensure consistent product quality and operational efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Quality Inspection and Testing

• Inspect raw materials, packaging materials, work-in-progress items, and finished products to ensure they meet approved specifications.
• Conduct routine quality inspections and tests in accordance with established procedures.
• Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with quality standards and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Identify, document, and report defective products, materials, and processes.
• Ensure that non-conforming products are properly identified, isolated, and prevented from being released without the required authorisation.
• Investigate quality deviations and recommend corrective and preventive actions.

B. Cleaning-in-Place (CIP) and Sterilization-in-Place (SIP) 1. Monitor and verify CIP procedures to ensure that production equipment, tanks, pipelines, and other applicable systems are properly cleaned.

2. Verify critical CIP parameters, including cleaning time, temperature, chemical concentration, and flow rate, according to approved procedures.

3. Monitor SIP procedures where applicable to ensure that equipment and product-contact systems achieve the required sterilization conditions.

4. Verify critical SIP parameters, including temperature, pressure, exposure time, and other validated requirements, as applicable.

5. Review CIP and SIP records to ensure that cleaning and sterilization activities are properly documented.

6. Verify that equipment meets established cleanliness or sterilization acceptance criteria before being released for production.

7. Report CIP or SIP failures, deviations, and contamination risks to the appropriate supervisor.

8. Ensure that corrective actions are implemented and documented whenever CIP or SIP requirements are not met.

9. Assist with routine verification and validation activities for cleaning and sterilization procedures, where required.

Qualifications and Requirements

• HND or Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, such as Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Food Science and Technology, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, depending on the industry.
• Relevant experience in quality control or quality assurance is an advantage.
• Knowledge of quality inspection, testing methods, and production process monitoring.
• Understanding of CIP and SIP systems and their operational requirements, where applicable.
• Ability to interpret process parameters, inspection results, and quality records.
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), hygiene, and sanitation requirements.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.

Pay: ₦80,000.00 - ₦84,000.00 per month
