Quality Control Specialist

Summary - Job Responsibilities - Activities

• Maintains quality standards by approving incoming materials, first and in-process production, finished products; recording quality results in a timely manner or according to due date (ability to prioritize lates) or schedule.
• Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; approving and labeling product appropriately, rejecting, labeling non-conforming materials if necessary and entering in ERP system appropriately. Proper disposal of non-conforming material with consult of QC Mgr.
• Approves first piece and in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicate required adjustments to machinist. Labeling product appropriately upon approval.
• Approves product for final inspection, and prepares customer required paperwork as necessary to accommodate order shipment in a timely manner
• Keeps measurement equipment operating by following calibration schedule, addressing repairs or replacement.
• Request purchases for quality department-related items as necessary.
• Documents results of calibrations for designated QA equipment in appropriate manner (software).
• Provides customer required documents /paperwork per order.
• Special testing when required (Torque, Tensile, Moisture Analyzer)
• Maintains running stock of dimensional QC stickers, product inspection forms, c of c forms as necessary.
• Maintains/files or scans quality related paperwork files as necessary.
• Able to print reports for quality related paperwork by due dates.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education - Experience

• Associate's degree or technical training in related field or equivalent work experience
• Prior experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is beneficial

Required Skills, Competencies, Authorities And Training Needs

• Reading of blueprints
• Math-Number conversions
• Performance of calibrations
• Knowledge of quality systems and inspection procedures for receiving, in process and final QA
• To provide training on measuring instruments, calipers, micrometer, optical comparator, counting scales and customer specific requirements
• Computer skills - ability to access and respond to email, create Excel spreadsheets, Word documents as necessary
• Able to navigate ERP system proficiently
• Able to navigate computer desktop and access appropriate drives and documents proficiently
• Able to learn internal part numbering system and catalog

Any Other Training Requirements / Comments

• Repetitive motion in use of qc inspection tools
• PPAP experience a plus
• Navigation of internal software and ERP systems: QCBD, MAS ERP, Global ERP, Microsoft Office, Datalyzer Software (SPC)

Physical Requirements

• Near visual acuity for close visual inspection of product
• Ability to walk, sit or stand for long periods of time in manufacturing environment / inspection department
• Ability to transport and/or lift unfinished or finished product in boxes or containers, from shop floor to appropriate measuring stations or inspection department
• Ability to lift and move containers up to 1-5 pounds on a daily basis, with ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds on occasion
