Quality Control Supervisor/Chemist

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As Chemist:

• Certifies chemical laboratory analysis as licensed chemist.
• Prepares recommendations to improve chemical laboratory process and procedures.
• Assist in the calibration of chemical instrument & equipment.
• Involve in the maintenance of the laboratory instruments such as repairs by third party or manufacturer’s warranty.
• Able to extend support and assistance by providing License in complying with the Government regulatory requirement.

As Quality Control Supervisor

• Prepares daily production report (DPR) for refinery and pouch section
• Conducts analysis of received commodity (Palm Olein and PFAD) and withdrawals or load outs of Palm Olein and PFAD.
• Conducts sample testing of Palm oil (raw materials) to check FFA, color and peroxide value for comparison with the finished product before the process of refinery starts.
• Conducts hourly monitoring of the percentage of FFA, Color, Iodine Value, Peroxide Value and other parameters required for Palm Olein and PFAD sample taken from refinery production and provide regular information on sample results Plant Officer In-Charge.
• Conduct hourly monitoring of Palm Olein and PFAD Sample produced for color reading using Lovibond tintometer.
• Informs Plant Officer In-Charge immediately of any abnormal observation on the samples and log this in the Daily Laboratory Analysis and prepare the actual report.
• Analyzes the finish product and compare its specifications and quality with that of the specifications before the refining process.
• Analyzes processes and special samples brought to the laboratory based on established procedures.
• Monitor the quality of raw materials and finished goods thru visual and olfactory inspection and sample testing for Daily Production Report and for appropriate product blending.
• Conduct water sample analysis (raw water, filtered water, pure water, soft water and RO) on a daily basis to ensure that they are within the standard to prevent pipe clogging.
• Ensure reliable QC Analysis date is updated on the DPR in a timely manner.
• Conducts visual inspection of Palm Olein and PFAD sample brought to the laboratory for quick action to correct the refining process.
• Inform Plan Officer In-Charge of any abnormal observation on the samples.
• Log and encode the data/results in the daily laboratory analysis report for DPR.
• Monitors direction of storage of oil products as well as quality of oil products in each of the storage tanks for proper segregation.
• Prepares moisture dishes, flasks and other laboratory glassware for the samples taken in the assigned shift.
• Prepares and standardize laboratory reagents and regularly calibrates laboratory measuring equipment and ensures laboratory equipment maintenance.
• Issues Certificate of Analysis as per customer request.
• Conduct weekly tank analysis of all storage tank.
• Do monthly inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment and maintain per stock level.
• Conduct sample test on the sample from the load out and prepare Certificate of Analysis for delivery purposes.
• Assist in the preparation of technical studies and reports as instructed.
• Recommends improvement in the work areas and observes safety and proper housekeeping in the area.
• Perform special test of samples brought to the laboratory based on the established procedures and parameters.
• In-Charge in GMP/HACCP, HALAL and KOSHER Compliance.
• Perform other duties as instructed by immediate superior.

JOB SPECIFICATION

Education: Graduate of BS Chemistry

Work experience: Minimum of 2 years related work experience is required. Competency: Has basic knowledge on laboratory procedures and chemical handling. Proficient in MS Office applications particular MS Excel and MS Word. Detailed Oriented and Analytical.
