Quality Control Technical Assistant

Maris is a leading Sales & Marketing company with offices in UK & EU, supplying Retail, E-commerce and Foodservice companies with a variety of high-quality Seafood products sourced from a vast network of global suppliers.

Overview

To work in a coldstore environment, quality control testing frozen products to ensure they are in line with supplier and customer specifications.

You will be expected to work within the legal and technical standards to ensure the company adheres to BRC/MSC/ASC standards and that hygiene targets are achieved. You need to understand the Quality and H&S procedures eg: HACCP which the Company must adhere to.

Key Responsibilities:

· Quality Control Testing and Checks of all Incoming Samples against specifications

· Maintain the Sample Pallet and Retention Samples

· Help collate samples for customer tenders / panels, microbiological testing etc.

· Assist in some Day-to-Day Technical Administration

Attributes:

Able to work independently, manage workloads and meet agreed deadlines

Previous experience in food manufacturing, quality control or a similar environment would be beneficial, although training will be provided for candidates with transferable skills.

Enthusiastic about Food Safety and Quality

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a confident professional telephone manner

Computer literate and proficient in Excel and Word together.

Good numerical skills, including the ability to accurately record and interpret quality control results

Ability to prioritize in a busy environment with flexible approach.

Excellent organization with high attention to detail

Able to approach challenges positively and work collaboratively to resolve issues

Hours:

• 20 hours a week – we are flexible to discuss how this will work with the candidate (Full days or part days are all acceptable)
• Coldstore based (DN31 2SG) and occasional days Office Based in Hull (HU13 0LH)
• 28 days holiday plus bank holidays (pro rata depending on number of days a week worked)
• MUST have a driving license as travel to the office in Hull is required at least once a week to write up QC reports.
• Wages are monthly paid

Work Location: The role involves working in a temperature-controlled coldstore environment and handling frozen seafood samples. Appropriate protective equipment and training will be provided. Reasonable adjustments will be considered to support employees in carrying out the role.
