Peak Refuel makes premium freeze-dried meals for people who spend their time outdoors. Our Quality team makes sure every ingredient and every pouch meets our standards, from raw materials to finished product.

About the Role
As our Quality Control Technician, you'll split your time between the desk and the field. You'll sample raw materials, coordinate lab testing, review COAs and test results, and support material release. You'll also give hands-on QC support at our facilities, cold-storage warehouses and co-manufacturing partners. You'll report to our VP of Quality.

What You'll Do

• Sample raw materials for qualification, requalification and extra testing, then prepare, label and submit samples to approved labs and track the results
• Read and interpret specifications, COAs and lab reports, compare results against specs and escalate anything out of specification
• Support raw material disposition and release, and keep material status, test results and requalification dates accurate in our systems
• Check that inbound materials arrive with complete quality documentation, and follow up on anything missing
• Visit co-manufacturers to observe freeze-drying, filling, packaging, labeling and coding, and to run organoleptic (sensory) evaluations of our products
• Inspect stored materials at warehouse and cold-storage locations for correct identification, packaging integrity, storage conditions and status segregation
• Keep accurate, traceable records under Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
• Help with holds, nonconformances, investigations, complaints and continuous improvement projects

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or technical training is a plus
• Experience in QC/QA, food manufacturing, lab support or a related manufacturing setting (preferred)
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to compare results against acceptance criteria accurately
• Clear written and verbal communication, and organized recordkeeping
• Basic computer skills and willingness to learn ERP, inventory and quality systems
• Self-motivation, with the ability to manage several priorities and see open items through to the end
• A valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of GMPs, food safety, sampling techniques and material status controls
• Experience in a USDA-regulated facility or familiarity with USDA-FSIS requirements
• Experience with COA review, lab submissions or material release
• Experience with sensory evaluations or manufacturing inspections
• A background in freeze-dried, ready-to-eat, dietary supplement or other regulated food manufacturing
• PCQI training or experience supporting an FDA Food Safety Plan

Work Environment

• You'll work in warehouse, manufacturing and cold-storage environments
• You must follow PPE, hygiene and food safety rules at each site
• Local travel is an essential part of the role

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
