About Us
Pro Star Precision Machining produces tight-tolerance machined components for aerospace, aviation, defense, and commercial applications. Our customers count on every part being right, and our quality team makes sure it is. We're hiring a QC Technician to work directly under our QC Manager, supporting inspection and quality functions across the shop. If you've spent time on a machine shop floor and want to build a career in quality, this is a great opportunity.
What You'll Do
- Assist with first piece inspections, measuring parts against drawings and specifications and documenting results
- Operate our CMM running Open-DMIS software to inspect parts and generate measurement reports
- Operate our OGP vision system to inspect small, delicate, or complex features
- Install helicoils (threaded inserts) where required and verify the finished threads meet print requirements
- Balloon customer prints and drawings to prepare them for inspection and first article reports
- Maintain our calibration program: track due dates, send gauges out or pull them from service, and keep calibration records organized
- Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, and thread gauges
- Read and interpret blueprints, including GD&T callouts, to determine what needs to be inspected
- Complete and maintain inspection reports and traceability paperwork
- Identify and tag nonconforming parts and report them to the QC Manager
- Keep the inspection area and measuring equipment clean and organized
- Follow all quality procedures and safety requirements
What We're Looking For
- Basic knowledge of GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) and blueprint reading
- Willingness to learn: you'll be trained on new equipment, software, and processes, and we want someone who takes initiative and welcomes feedback
- Preferred: experience in a machine shop setting (machine operator, machinist, deburr, assembly, or similar)
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and unit conversions
- Good manual dexterity and comfort working with hand tools
- Comfortable with basic computer use (data entry, spreadsheets, email)
- Organized, reliable, and able to manage recurring tasks like calibration schedules
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods in a shop environment
- Candidates early in their quality career are welcome to apply
