What they need
Inframax Construction is looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to lead quality assurance across our civil construction, maintenance and quarry operations.
This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to get out from behind the desk, work alongside operational teams and turn quality data into better decisions, less rework and more consistent results.
You’ll have the opportunity to build and shape Inframax’s quality framework, strengthen our systems and influence how quality is managed across the business.
What you’ll be doing
- Build and improve quality systems - develop practical, field-ready QA systems that improve consistency, reduce waste and minimise rework.
- Drive quality in the field - work alongside operational teams to identify issues, strengthen controls and ensure work meets customer, contractual and technical requirements.
- Use data to improve performance - analyse laboratory and field data, identify trends and implement Statistical Process Control (SPC) where appropriate.
- Lead audits and investigations - conduct operational audits, manage non-conformances and identify root causes to drive lasting improvements.
- Coach and influence - build quality capability across our teams and help embed a proactive, continuous improvement culture.
- Support technical compliance - work with specifications, ITPs, lot management, aggregate quality and other technical requirements.
- Contribute to business growth - provide quality expertise that supports tenders, projects and customer requirements.
What we’re looking for
You’ll be an experienced quality professional who understands that quality is about more than paperwork and compliance. You know how to take technical requirements and make them work in the real world.
Ideally, you’ll have:
- A degree in Civil/Materials Engineering, Quality Management or a related discipline.
- Experience in quality management within civil construction, infrastructure, quarrying or another heavy industry.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems.
- Experience with laboratory material testing and technical specifications.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn data into practical improvements.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence working with frontline crews, operational leaders, senior management and external stakeholders.
- A practical, hands-on approach and the credibility to get alongside teams in the field.
Experience that would be an advantage
- NZTA/Waka Kotahi specifications
- Aggregate production and quarry operations
- Pavement construction
- Digital QA systems
- Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Lean or Six Sigma
You’ll be someone who...
- Gets out into the field rather than managing quality from behind a desk.
- Can balance technical requirements with operational and commercial realities.
- Is confident challenging the status quo and finding better ways of doing things.
- Builds strong relationships and earns credibility with operational teams.
- Is practical, analytical and solutions focused.
Why join Inframax?
This is a chance to build something, not just maintain it.
You’ll have genuine scope to shape how quality is managed across Inframax, influence operational performance and develop systems that support the company’s continued growth.
With exposure across construction, maintenance and quarry operations, no two days will be the same.
If you’re ready to take quality beyond compliance and make a visible, measurable impact, we’d like to hear from you.
Apply now with your cover letter and CV and join the Inframax team!.
