Quality Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION – SHEET METAL QUALITY

Position: Sheet Metal Quality Inspector / Quality Engineer

Job Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming raw materials, sheet metal components and finished products as per drawings and specifications.
• Perform in-process and final inspection of sheet metal components.
• Read and understand engineering drawings, GD&T and quality standards.
• Check dimensions using Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Profile Projector and other measuring instruments.
• Inspect sheet metal operations such as cutting, bending, punching, laser cutting, welding and fabrication.
• Identify and record dimensional, visual and process-related defects.
• Prepare and maintain Inspection Reports, Rejection Reports, NCR and Quality Records.
• Coordinate with Production and Tool Room teams to identify root causes of quality issues.
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis, 5 Why, Fishbone and CAPA for repeated defects.
• Monitor and ensure adherence to process parameters and quality standards.
• Support PPAP, APQP, FMEA, Control Plan and Inspection Plan activities.
• Handle customer complaints and support corrective/preventive actions.
• Conduct supplier/incoming material inspection whenever required.
• Maintain calibration status of measuring instruments.
• Ensure proper documentation and traceability of inspected components.
• Support 5S, Kaizen and continuous improvement activities.
• Follow company safety and quality procedures.

Required Skills

• Good knowledge of Sheet Metal Manufacturing and Fabrication Processes.
• Strong knowledge of Engineering Drawing & GD&T.
• Hands-on experience in using measuring instruments.
• Knowledge of 7 QC Tools, SPC, MSA, 5 Why and CAPA.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 will be an added advantage.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Basic knowledge of MS Excel and Quality Documentation.

Qualification

Diploma / BE / B.Tech – Mechanical / Production / Automobile Engineering

Experience

2–7 Years of relevant experience in Sheet Metal / Automotive / Engineering Manufacturing Quality.

Pay: ₹11,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
