Quality Engineer

About the role

This is a Quality Engineer role with a Swedish multinational establishing a new manufacturing facility in Johor, Malaysia. You will have the opportunity to help establish quality systems, develop manufacturing standards, and build a strong quality culture from the ground up as the facility prepares for production ramp-up. Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, inspection standards, and quality records
• Support the implementation and maintenance of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System
• Develop practical quality controls for incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products
• Maintain product traceability, inspection documentation, and non-conformance records
• Develop and maintain control plans, inspection criteria, and quality checkpoints for manufacturing processes
• Support First Article Inspection (FAI), process qualification, and production readiness activities
• Monitor product defects, scrap rates, yield, and quality performance; identify trends and drive improvement
• Investigate internal quality issues, supplier defects, and customer complaints
• Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions using 5 Why, Fishbone, 8D, and other structured problem-solving tools
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve process capability, product consistency, and manufacturing efficiency

About you

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related discipline
• Relevant experience in Quality Engineering, Quality Assurance, or manufacturing process quality
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and fundamental quality management practices
• Familiarity with inspection methods, engineering drawings, non-conformance management, and corrective and preventive actions
• Knowledge of quality tools such as FAI, control plans, 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, and SPC
• Good analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
• A hands-on mindset, with the ability to work effectively with production teams on the shop floor
• Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable taking ownership in a new and developing manufacturing environment
