Quality Engineer

We are supporting an established engineering business in the West Midlands that is looking for a Quality Engineer to join its team.

They operate across automotive and precision engineering, with the role covering project quality, customer quality, suppliers and manufacturing. You will work closely with engineering and production teams to support new projects, resolve quality issues and improve processes.

The Role:

• Support NPI and project quality activities
• Apply APQP and PPAP across new and existing projects
• Provide quality input during project development
• Work with engineering and manufacturing teams to understand product requirements
• Manage customer quality issues, concessions, returns and warranty claims
• Support suppliers with quality issues and corrective actions
• Carry out internal, process and product audits
• Maintain quality documentation and support external audits
• Use structured problem-solving methods such as 8D
• Support continuous improvement and waste reduction
• Represent the business in customer and supplier meetings

They are looking for a Quality Engineer with experience in an automotive or precision engineering environment.

You should have:

• 3+ years' relevant Quality Engineering experience
• Strong knowledge of IATF 16949
• Experience with the Quality Core Tools: APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC and PPAP
• Good understanding of GD&T and technical drawings
• Experience with customer and supplier quality
• Practical problem-solving and containment experience
• Experience with quality audits
• Engineering or technical qualification
• Good working knowledge of Control Plans, ISIR and 8D

Experience with IMDS, inspection methods, castings, forgings or machined components would be advantageous.

The role is based in the West Midlands and suits someone who enjoys a practical, engineering-focused quality position rather than a purely QMS-based role.
