Manufacturing assembly with electrification and injection moulding inputs

Location: Coventry

Hours: Full time

Salary: £49,000 plus 33 days holiday (including bank holidays), pension, life assurance, employee assistance programme, wellbeing support, and flexible benefits including cycle to work scheme

About The Role Unipart Manufacturing is launching a flagship, fast-paced manufacturing project in Coventry, combining high-volume electrification assembly with complex injection moulding inputs. Fully aligned with Unipart's Sector and Growth Strategy and The Unipart Way Forward Plan, this exciting venture will scale rapidly from zero to over 200 team members within a four-month period. We are seeking a hands-on Quality Engineer to support the day-to-day quality control, process compliance, and technical assurance across complex manufacturing assemblies - integrating electrification systems, injection-moulded components, and specialised welding processes. Joining at the ground level, you will execute core quality activities, inspect components, and ensure adherence to rigorous customer and defence standards in a dynamic project environment.

As Part Of Your Key Responsibilities, You'll

  • QMS and Process Control - Maintain quality control plans, execute process audits, and support Quality Management Systems (QMS) across production and New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • Standards Compliance - Support adherence to quality management systems (ISO 9001, AS9100) and defence procedural standards (AQAP 2110 / DEF STANs)
  • Specialised Process Quality - Perform dimensional checks, MSA studies, and quality assurance for electrification assemblies, plastic injection moulding tolerances, and structural welds
  • Problem Solving and Documentation - Facilitate internal, customer, and supplier quality investigations using 8D problem-solving, maintaining Certificates of Conformity (CofC), and compiling PPAP documentation
  • SHE and Safety Compliance - Strictly follow Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) procedures and support statutory and security compliance across all quality checks

About You We'd love you to have the following skills and experience, but please apply if you think you'd be able to perform well in this role!

  • Quality Engineering Experience - Practical background as a Quality Engineer within automotive, aerospace, defence, or advanced manufacturing environments
  • Technical Standards Exposure - Working knowledge of ISO 9001 or AS9100, with exposure to defence standards (AQAP 2110, DEF STANs) or regulatory frameworks considered a strong advantage
  • Manufacturing Inputs - Hands-on experience with electro-mechanical assembly, plastic injection moulding inspection (ISO 20457 / UL 94), or welded fabrications
  • Core Quality Toolkit - Proficiency in standard quality tools including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, and 8D/5-Why root-cause analysis
