Quality Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Quality Engineer with strong knowledge of quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) in EPC projects, Oil & Gas, structural steel fabrication, erection, PEB structures and MEP works. The candidate must be capable of implementing quality procedures, conducting inspections, maintaining quality documentation and ensuring compliance with project specifications, approved drawings and applicable codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor QA/QC procedures in accordance with project specifications, approved drawings, ITPs and quality standards.
• Conduct inspections of material receipt, fabrication, welding, structural steel erection, piping and MEP activities.
• Perform dimensional inspection, fit-up inspection, weld visual inspection and final inspection.
• Coordinate NDT activities, including RT, UT, MT and PT, as applicable, and review test reports.
• Ensure compliance with WPS, PQR, WPQ/WQT, welding procedures and approved welder qualifications.
• Monitor structural steel fabrication, columns, beams, trusses, pipe racks, platforms, handrails and PEB structures.
• Inspect piping fabrication, fit-up, welding, flange alignment, pressure testing and related installation activities.
• Monitor MEP installation quality, including HVAC, firefighting, plumbing and electrical works, wherever applicable.
• Prepare and maintain Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements, Quality Control Plans, checklists and inspection reports.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, third-party inspection agencies and project teams for inspections and approvals.
• Raise and close Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), Site Observation Reports (SORs) and corrective/preventive action reports.
• Verify incoming material test certificates (MTCs), material traceability, welding consumables and inspection records.
• Ensure proper implementation of applicable codes and standards, including ASME, AWS, API, IS and project-specific requirements.
• Maintain quality records, WIR/RFI documentation, inspection registers, test reports and quality dossiers.
• Monitor site workmanship, identify quality issues and implement corrective actions to minimize rework and rejection.
• Ensure quality compliance during erection, installation, testing, pre-commissioning and project handover.
• Coordinate with construction, planning, safety and execution teams to achieve project quality targets and timely completion.
• Conduct internal quality audits and ensure compliance with client and project quality requirements.
• Get client signatures on fit up reports & other necessary reports regarding billing and compliance.
• Ensure timely submission of all invoices and coordinating with Head Office to raise inspection and invoices.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of QA/QC procedures in EPC and industrial projects.
• Practical experience in fabrication, welding, erection and installation inspections.
• Knowledge of NDT Level II methods and interpretation/review of relevant reports within certification scope.
• Understanding of engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, P&IDs, isometric drawings and inspection documentation.
• Knowledge of ITPs, QAPs, WPS/PQR, MTCs, NCRs and quality dossiers.
• Good coordination, reporting, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to manage site inspections independently and meet project quality deadlines.

Eligibility Criteria

• 48 years of relevant experience in EPC, Oil & Gas, structural steel, PEB, fabrication or MEP projects.
• B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, as relevant to the project scope.
• Valid NDT Level II certification in relevant methods is required.
• Candidates with hands-on site experience and client inspection coordination will be preferred.
