Quality Engineer-Sheet Metal

• Perform quality inspection and control of fabrication activities, including cutting, bending, forming, welding, fit-up, assembly, and finishing operations.
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, weld symbols, material requirements, and customer quality standards to establish appropriate inspection and acceptance criteria.
• Conduct incoming, in-process, and final inspections of fabricated components to verify dimensional accuracy, material conformity, weld quality, surface condition, and overall workmanship.
• Prepare and maintain Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), inspection checklists, quality records, and inspection reports for fabrication projects.
• Coordinate and monitor welding quality requirements, including WPS/PQR compliance, welder qualification, preheat/interpass temperature, welding parameters, and consumable control.
• Perform or coordinate NDT activities such as visual inspection, dye penetrant testing, magnetic particle testing, ultrasonic testing, and radiographic testing as applicable to the fabrication requirements.
• Use appropriate measuring instruments and inspection equipment, including vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, weld gauges, CMM, and other dimensional inspection tools.
• Identify non-conformities, fabrication defects, dimensional deviations, and weld defects, raise NCRs, and coordinate root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions with Production and Engineering teams.
• Monitor fabrication quality performance, including rejection, rework, first-pass yield, customer complaints, and recurring defects, and implement improvement actions to reduce quality losses.
• Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Welding, Inspection, and Customer teams during fabrication activities, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
