Quality Engineer (Stamping and Moulding)

Job highlights

• Diploma/B.Tech in Mechanical or related field with 1-3 years in stamping or moulding; skilled in GD&T, measuring instruments, control plans, PFMEA, SPC, PPAP, and 7 QC tools
• Perform FPA and LPA inspections, conduct in-process and final quality checks, maintain records, support root cause analysis and audits, coordinate on quality issues

Role summary
Handle day-to-day shop floor quality for stamped and moulded components, making sure parts meet drawing and customer requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out First Piece Approval (FPA) at the start of every shift, job change and setup, and release production only after approval.
• Carry out Last Piece Approval (LPA) at the end of a lot or run and record the results.
• Conduct in-process and final inspection using vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauge, pin gauges, go/no-go gauges and profile projector.
• Follow the control plan and inspection checklists, and maintain inspection records and check sheets.
• Raise and segregate rejected or suspect material, tag it, and support rework and containment.
• Support root cause analysis (5 Why, fishbone) and corrective actions for internal rejections and customer complaints.
• Check incoming raw material (strip, wire, resin) against test certificates and specifications.
• Make sure gauges and instruments are within calibration and used correctly.
• Support audits (IATF 16949 and ISO 9001) and keep documents and records audit-ready.
• Coordinate with production, tool room and stores on quality issues.

Requirements

• Diploma or B.Tech in Mechanical, Production or a related field
• 1 to 3 years of experience in a stamping, moulding or auto component company (freshers with strong fundamentals can be considered)
• Able to read engineering drawings and basic GD&T
• Hands-on with measuring instruments
• Basic knowledge of control plan, PFMEA, SPC, PPAP and 7 QC tools
• Basic MS Excel skills
• Working knowledge of Hindi (English is a plus)

Good to have

• Exposure to IATF 16949 systems
• Experience with wiring terminals or connectors
