Quality Engineering Manager

Role & responsibilities

• Lead the Quality Engineering function, including test automation, manual testing, and quality processes.
• Define and implement quality engineering strategy, test architecture, standards, metrics, and quality gates.
• Design and oversee scalable automation frameworks for web, API, mobile, and backend applications.
• Drive CI/CD, continuous testing, shift-left testing, and DevOps quality practices.
• Oversee functional, integration, regression, API, end-to-end, and performance testing.
• Partner with Development, Product, DevOps, Security, and Architecture teams to improve software quality.
• Establish defect prevention, root-cause analysis, release readiness, and continuous improvement practices.
• Evaluate testing tools and technologies and improve automation coverage and engineering efficiency.
• Lead, mentor, and develop QA Engineers, SDETs, and Quality Engineers.
• Manage quality KPIs, testing risks, delivery timelines, vendors, and stakeholder communication.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5 to 10 years of experience in Quality Engineering, QA, SDET, Software Testing, or Test Automation, including leadership experience.
• Strong programming skills in Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience with Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, TestNG, JUnit, PyTest, or Cucumber.
• Strong experience in API, integration, regression, end-to-end, performance, and automation testing.
• Experience designing automation frameworks, reusable components, continuous testing, and quality gates.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD, Jenkins, Git, Azure DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum, SDLC/STLC, defect management, test metrics, and release management.
• Excellent people management, mentoring, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• ISTQB, cloud, Agile, DevOps, or Kubernetes certifications are an advantage.
