What they need

About Us

At Burkhead DeVane Pharmaceutical Label Specialists, we pride ourselves on precision, compliance, and uncompromising quality. We provide high-integrity, specialized labeling solutions for the pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device industries. Because our labels play a critical role in patient safety, regulatory compliance, and product traceability, our quality control team is the backbone of our operations.

We are seeking a detail-oriented, meticulous Quality Control Inspector to join our dedicated team and ensure every roll of labels meets our rigorous standards.

Position Summary

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspecting in-process goods, and finished pharmaceutical labels to guarantee strict adherence to cGMP standards, and customer specifications. The ideal candidate has a keen eye for visual defects, a strong understanding of quality management systems, and a commitment to upholding excellence in regulated manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspection & Testing: Perform rigorous in-process, and final inspections of pharmaceutical labels for color accuracy, text legibility, die-cut precision, barcode readability, and material integrity.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Accurately complete Batch Production Records (BPRs), Certificates of Analysis (CoAs), and inspection logs in strict compliance with cGMP and company standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Defect Management: Identify, document, and quarantine any non-conforming materials or finished goods; lead initial containment efforts and participate in root-cause investigations.
  • Equipment Calibration: Perform routine checks, maintenance, and verification of inspection tools, vision systems, and measuring equipment.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with production operators, press supervisors, and the QA/RA team to resolve quality issues quickly and prevent recurrence.
  • Audit Readiness: Maintain a clean, organized inspection workspace and assist during internal and external regulatory audits.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 1–3 years of quality control or quality assurance experience in a regulated manufacturing environment—pharmaceutical, medical device, or specialized printing/packaging preferred.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a scientific or technical field is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in using inspection tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, densitometers, optical comparators).
  • Familiarity with automated vision inspection systems and barcode verification equipment.
  • Knowledge Base: Working knowledge of cGMP and ISO 9001 standards.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to make objective, quality-first decisions under tight production deadlines.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 35 lbs, and pass a standard visual acuity test (including color differentiation screening).
