Quality Inspector/CMM Programmer

Job Overview

LA Metal Stamping Co. is seeking a skilled Quality Inspector / CMM Programmer to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will possess strong quality inspection experience, a solid mechanical aptitude, and hands-on expertise in CMM programming. This role is critical to ensuring that products meet customer specifications and the highest quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate inspection requirements with Quality, Advanced Quality, and Production teams to meet plant and customer expectations.
• Develop and maintain CMM programs to perform full dimensional layouts and generate reports for PPAP submissions and customer requirements.
• Program and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), with experience in PolyWorks preferred.
• Analyze CMM data and provide statistical information to support investigations and corrective actions.
• Perform first-article, in-process, and final inspections on stamped components.
• Conduct inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and product specifications to verify conformance.
• Create, maintain, and organize inspection records, reports, and quality documentation.
• Perform routine validation checks and ensure CMM equipment remains in proper working condition.
• Support root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist with customer and internal quality requirements as assigned by the Quality Manager.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Quality Inspector and/or CMM Programmer in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience programming and operating CMM equipment.
• Experience with PolyWorks software is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and precision measurement techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and part specifications.
• Knowledge of quality management systems and ISO 9001 requirements.
• Experience with PPAP documentation and dimensional reporting.
• Familiarity with root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
