What they need

VINCI GROUP – SPIECAPAG AUSTRALIA

VINCI is a world leader in concessions, energy and construction, operating in more than 120 countries with a workforce of more than 294,000 employees. We are a global group with local company opportunities.

Spiecapag has been delivering large-scale pipeline infrastructure and drilling projects across Australia and the Asia Pacific region for more than 20 years. This project-based opportunity will support the successful delivery of major pipeline infrastructure works.

About this role

We’re seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead quality assurance, quality control and welding quality across a major pipeline project. This site-based leadership role will implement and maintain the project quality and support compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 3834.2, and provide practical direction to project teams, inspectors, subcontractors and suppliers. You will work closely with project management, construction, engineering, commercial and client representatives to manage quality risk, resolve non-conformances and deliver complete, auditable project records.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the project quality management system and quality assurance program, with a strong focus on welding and coating quality.
  • Develop and maintain project Quality Plans, inspection and test plans, control sheets, registers, procedures and supporting records.
  • Provide functional leadership, direction and coaching to project quality personnel and coordinate quality induction and training.
  • Plan and conduct internal system and process audits, support external certification and client audits, and ensure all actions are tracked through to closure.
  • Investigate non-conformances, defects and failures, determine root causes, implement corrective actions and identify trends through the NCR register.
  • Maintain material and equipment traceability, welding procedures and qualification records, inspection documentation and calibration registers.
  • Evaluate and audit subcontractors and suppliers, monitor their quality performance and ensure work complies with relevant standards, codes, specifications and contractual requirements.
  • Liaise with the client, certifying authorities, regulatory bodies, laboratories and project stakeholders on quality requirements, risks, inspections and reporting.
  • Prepare accurate quality reports, monitor project quality risks and opportunities, and own quality close-out deliverables, including final MDR submission.
  • Champion a strong safety and quality culture, continuous improvement and practical innovation across the project.

About you

  • At least 8 years’ construction quality experience, including 3 or more years in pipeline construction and previous leadership of quality teams.
  • A relevant trade qualification, with coating and/or welding inspection qualifications; an associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical field will be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience in welding and coating inspection and the implementation of welding quality requirements on major infrastructure projects.
  • Internal Quality Auditor capability and strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, quality control principles and company management systems.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain Quality Plans, ITPs, traceability systems, audit programs, NCR processes and quality close-out documentation.
  • Strong pipeline engineering and construction knowledge, with the ability to translate field issues into practical, compliant solutions.
  • Excellent leadership, planning, problem-solving, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • A collaborative, resilient and detail-focused approach, with clear communication skills and a positive, adaptable attitude.

Role location & travel

This is a project-based role and will require flexibility to work in line with project and construction requirements. The successful candidate will be comfortable working on site, engaging directly with delivery teams and travelling as required to support project outcomes.

How to apply

If you are an experienced Quality Manager who thrives in a fast-paced project environment and is ready to take ownership of quality performance on major pipeline infrastructure works, we’d love to hear from you.

Please submit your resume outlining your relevant experience and why you are the ideal candidate for this position.

Spiecapag Australia is an equal opportunity employer and encourages candidates from all backgrounds to apply.

Applications will only be considered from candidates who currently live in Australia and hold approved Australian working rights, including permanent, temporary, student or spousal visa working rights.
