What they need

About PSI Molded Plastics

PSI Molded Plastics is an established custom plastic injection molding manufacturer with more than 30 years of experience serving the automotive, appliance, furniture, and other industries. We specialize in complex, high-volume molded products and are committed to delivering exceptional quality, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.

At PSI, we believe our people are our greatest asset. We foster a collaborative, hands-on environment where employees are valued, ideas are encouraged, and individuals have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced, results-driven Quality Manager to lead the Quality Department at our South Bend, Indiana facility.

This is a key leadership position reporting directly to the General Manager, with responsibility for overseeing our quality management system, maintaining IATF 16949 compliance, developing our quality team, and driving continuous improvement throughout the operation.

The ideal candidate is a proactive, hands-on leader who thrives in a manufacturing environment, enjoys solving complex problems, and understands how to balance customer expectations with operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Quality Department, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain and continually improve the facility's Quality Management System in accordance with IATF 16949 and applicable customer requirements.
  • Oversee internal, customer, and third-party audits, ensuring effective corrective actions and ongoing compliance.
  • Lead root cause investigations, customer complaint resolution, and corrective/preventive action initiatives.
  • Partner with Production, Engineering, Tooling, and other departments to identify quality concerns, reduce scrap, and prevent recurring defects.
  • Oversee quality inspection, quality engineering, metrology, document control, and containment activities.
  • Monitor quality performance metrics and implement data-driven improvements to reduce variation, defects, and waste.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for customers regarding quality concerns, audits, and improvement initiatives.
  • Support new product launches and quality planning activities, including APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, and control plans.
  • Develop and maintain supplier quality expectations and support supplier performance improvement.
  • Establish departmental goals, training initiatives, and performance expectations that support the company's operational objectives.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive manufacturing quality experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Strong working knowledge of IATF 16949 and automotive quality management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience leading corrective actions, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams while working effectively across multiple departments.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience interacting directly with customers and managing customer quality concerns.

Strongly Preferred:

  • Direct experience in plastic injection molding, ideally within an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, SPC, MSA, and 8D problem-solving methodologies.
  • Experience managing quality systems in a high-volume manufacturing operation.

What We're Looking For

Beyond technical qualifications, we're looking for someone who takes ownership, leads by example, and isn't afraid to spend time on the production floor.

Our ideal Quality Manager is someone who can see the bigger picture while remaining engaged in the day-to-day details. Someone who develops people, challenges existing processes, and takes pride in building systems that prevent problems rather than simply reacting to them.

Why Join PSI?

  • Direct influence on quality strategy and operational performance.
  • Opportunity to lead and develop an established quality team.
  • Collaborative leadership environment with direct access to facility management.
  • An opportunity to drive meaningful improvements in a well-established manufacturing operation.

If you're a quality leader who enjoys developing teams, solving problems, and making a measurable impact, we'd love to hear from you.
