What they need

Quality Supervisor | Mid-City Foundry | Grafton, WI

$60,000-$70,000 + Quarterly Company Performance Bonus

Take ownership of hands-on quality activities in a long-established iron foundry, supporting process control, production quality, process documentation, and metallurgical lab operations.

Since 1941, Mid-City Foundry has earned a reputation for quality, craftsmanship, and long-term customer partnerships. As a family-owned foundry serving customers from regional manufacturers to Fortune 500 companies, we offer the stability of an established organization with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

Position Overview

As the Quality Supervisor, you'll support quality throughout Mid-City Foundry's Grafton operation, with responsibility for process control, production quality, process documentation, and oversight of laboratory operations. You'll work closely with the VP of Quality, plant leadership, production teams, and the Foundry Lab Technician to maintain standards, investigate quality issues, and strengthen processes.

This is a hands-on role for someone who understands foundry or metallurgy environments and is comfortable moving between the production floor, quality documentation, scrap and corrective-action review, sample tracking, and lab support.

You'll also have the opportunity to bring a fresh perspective to process improvement, create and maintain procedures and work instructions, and help ensure quality requirements are understood and followed across the operation.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain and improve process controls and procedures across melt, core, molding, and cleaning operations.
  • Lead daily scrap review activities, evaluate customer returns, identify causes, and initiate corrective actions when needed.
  • Track samples and associated documentation through the foundry and finishing process, including process instructions and production records.
  • Create, update, and audit procedures, SOPs, work instructions, BOMs, and related process documentation.
  • Support new and existing sample activity and coordinate quality documentation, including PPAP or revision-related requirements as applicable.
  • Oversee foundry lab operations and serve as backup to the Lab Technician, helping ensure required testing is completed accurately and on time.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and partner with production and plant leadership to strengthen quality performance.
  • Provide day-to-day direction and support to the Foundry Lab Technician.

What You'll Bring

Qualified candidates will possess:

  • High school diploma required.
  • Approximately 5-7 years of related quality experience.
  • Foundry or metallurgy industry experience required; iron casting experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with process control and production quality in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience creating, modifying, or auditing SOPs, work instructions, process instructions, and BOMs.
  • Experience with ERP or manufacturing systems; Odyssey experience is a plus.
  • Strong mathematical reasoning, computer skills, attention to detail, and technical aptitude.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills across operators, leadership, customers, and team members.
  • Ability to delegate, provide direction, and contribute ideas for process improvement; prior supervisory experience is preferred.

Why Join Mid-City Foundry?

  • Family-owned iron foundry with more than 80 years of history and long-term customer relationships.
  • Hands-on quality role with direct impact on production, process control, and continuous improvement.
  • Opportunity to work closely with quality and plant leadership while helping shape stronger processes.
  • Quarterly company performance bonus and comprehensive benefits package.
  • Collaborative, practical manufacturing culture where ideas and process-improvement suggestions are welcomed.
  • Onsite, first-shift position at the Grafton facility.

If you're a hands-on quality professional with foundry or metallurgy experience who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, and working closely with production teams, we'd love to hear from you.
