What they need

Department: Trading

Location: Chicago, IL

Description Wolverine is looking for individuals motivated to learn the inner workings of a highly automated Market Making operation and eager to solve a broad range of problems within this segment of the financial markets.

Successful candidates can expect to sit on one of our trading desks and learn Wolverine's approach to systematic Market Making, taking active ownership of a portion of our portfolio to build your knowledge base while also working on contained quantitative projects. We believe strongly that through this process of experiential learning, you will gain a broader perspective on how market makers fit into the financial system, enabling you to have more impactful long-term contributions towards the development of our automated systems and trading philosophies. This extended training period leads directly into a role in which you will shift your focus away from the direct management of our portfolio and towards driving our pricing, micro-structure strategy, and other pursuits that rely on the combination of your quantitative skillset and business understanding.

What You’ll Do

  • Learn how to provide liquidity electronically to the marketplace and manage dynamic options exposures.
  • Maximize market making revenues through the management of settings and processes that affect our risk accumulations.
  • Conduct ad-hoc quantitative analyses within the domains of settings optimization, market microstructure research, key performance metric monitoring, and options pricing theory.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in analytical/quantitative field of study such as statistics, economics, mathematics, or computer science
  • Computer programming experience is highly desirable
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills and a desire to work in a team environment
  • Self-starter and independent attitude
  • Demonstrated interest in financial markets and technology (finance background is not required and Options Education will be provided)

Why Join Us Our flat organizational structure promotes teamwork across the Firm and offers easy access to senior staff. While we work exceptionally well as a team in the office, our bonds are further strengthened through company events, activities and giving back. Volleyball, soccer, hockey, 5K runs, picnic, parties, and trivia nights provide friendly competition and build better relationships. By getting out of our usual environment and doing out-of-the-ordinary things together, we foster creativity and broaden our imaginations to accomplish new challenges.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive salary & bonus opportunity
  • Generous paid time off and flexible scheduling
  • 100% coverage of medical, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits for single coverage
  • Generous Paid Parental Leave
  • Retirement Plans: 401K and Roth 401K
  • Profit sharing plan
  • Long- and short-term disability

Additional Perks:

  • Free breakfast and lunch from our in-house kitchen with rotating menus (including snacks!)
  • On-site gym with a subsidized membership
  • Frequent company outings
  • Opportunity to give back to organizations that help individuals in need in the Chicagoland area

Professional Development:

  • In-house education team – classes and resources are offered for continuous learning opportunities
  • Mentorship Program through your first six months of employment
