About the role

Vicente T. Lao Construction is seeking a Quantity Engineer to join our dynamic team in General Santos City, South Cotabato. This is a full-time position based on-site, where you will play a critical role in managing project costs, quantities, and contractual matters. As a Quantity Engineer, you will be instrumental in ensuring that our construction projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with all contractual obligations. Your expertise in quantities surveying and contracts management will directly contribute to the profitability and success of our major construction initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate bills of quantities (BoQ) and cost estimates for construction projects
• Monitor and track material quantities, labour costs, and project expenditures throughout project execution
• Conduct regular site measurements and verify work completed against contract specifications
• Manage variations and change orders, ensuring proper documentation and approval processes
• Prepare progress claims and interim valuations for submission to clients and stakeholders
• Review and analyse contract conditions, payment terms, and contractual obligations
• Liaise with project managers, contractors, and clients to resolve cost-related disputes and discrepancies
• Maintain comprehensive project records, including measurements, certificates, and financial documentation
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and provide recommendations to optimise project budgets
• Prepare final accounts and settlement documentation upon project completion

What we're looking for

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline
• Professional certification as a Quantity Surveyor or equivalent qualification recognised in the construction industry
• Minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience in quantities surveying and contracts management on construction projects
• Proficiency in preparing bills of quantities, cost estimates, and project valuations
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts, including standard forms such as FIDIC and JCT
• Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills for accurate cost tracking and reporting
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and construction estimating software
• Proven ability to communicate effectively with project teams, clients, and senior management
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Knowledge of building information modelling (BIM) and digital measurement tools is advantageous
