About the role

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join HOMA ENGINEERING (M) SDN BHD in Kuala Lumpur City Centre. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our construction projects, ensuring accurate cost management, contractual compliance, and value for money throughout the project lifecycle. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be instrumental in managing project finances, procurement, and claims, providing strategic insights that directly impact project profitability and client satisfaction.

What you'll be doing

• Preparing detailed bills of quantities and cost estimates for construction projects during the tender and pre-contract phases
• Managing project costs through rigorous monitoring, forecasting, and budget control throughout all project stages
• Administering contracts and managing variations, changes, and claims in accordance with contractual terms and conditions
• Conducting procurement activities, including supplier selection, quotation analysis, and negotiation to achieve best value
• Preparing interim valuations and final accounts for project completion and financial settlement
• Liaising with clients, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure financial alignment and project milestones
• Analysing project costs and providing commercial advice to support decision-making and risk management
• Maintaining comprehensive project records, documentation, and financial reports for audit and compliance purposes
• Contributing to continuous improvement in quantity surveying practices and methodologies within the organisation
• Able to communicate in three languages.

What we're looking for

• Professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related built environment discipline, with recognition from a relevant professional body (such as RICS or equivalent Malaysian qualification)
• Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry
• Proven expertise in cost estimation, budgeting, and financial management of construction projects
• Strong knowledge of contract administration and experience managing contractual variations and claims
• Proficiency with quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders at all levels
• Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness
• Understanding of Malaysian construction standards, regulations, and industry practices
• Professional integrity and commitment to ethical business practices
• Experience with building information modelling (BIM) and digital quantity surveying tools is advantageous
